Beware even in daylight

He is a crook not at night, but in daylight. This tall, good-looking man on his 20s is always with his friend, hunting their next target.

The clock struck 6:20 in the morning and I was still half asleep in our half-lit room. I saw this stranger inside my room: in a yellow shirt, jeans and yellow cap. He was looking for something on my table. I can’t figure out who he was for, as far as I could remember, my roommate had no visitor the night before. When I moved my feet in bed, he ran out quickly. Unknowingly, my roommate was also curious why the man was inside our room. He immediately followed the thief outside, but when he reached the gate, the man has already fled with his friend on a motorcycle. I just found out that I lost my phone and realized that what he was scrutinizing on my table was my laptop. Sorry for him that I was awakened by his shadow.

One week later, I found out that my bestfriend’s dormitory in Ramos was also robbed by someone who looked exactly like our thief, according to the description of two dormers. He had the same modus operandi.According to Bea Isabel Blanco, the thief just went inside the room as if he was a dormer, opened the cabinet and took away an expensive watch.

In December, just two weeks after they robbed my bestfriend’s dormitory, my cousin in Urgello, Angelica Marie Guevara, told me she lost her phone because someone robbed their dormitory and took away almost 15 cellular phones and some cash of the dormers. She shared that she got the chance to talk to the thief because they crossed paths outside her room. She asked him why he was there but the robber just replied that he was looking for someone. Alerted by the answer, she immediately shouted for help because she felt that there was something wrong as he should not be in their exclusively for girls dormitory. Too late for them, the thief had already gone out of the dormitory and, in fact, taunted them through his action of dancing. He was was jeering them that he achieved his goal.

These events traumatized me. Everytime our door opens, I always wake up even if I’m very heavy-eyed. I’m always expecting that someone will come and rob us again. Even if our room is already double-locked, I am still scared that he will visit us again. My mind has never given me peace. The shadow of this thief always haunts me.

I know we are not his only victims. He acts as if he is a boarder in the dormitory or boarding houses. Someone serves as a spy who waits outside with a motorcycle ready to go. They usually attack early in the morning as people are still asleep. Better check your doors, watch your surroundings and beware of these people on a motorcycle!
