Katy’s new video, “Wide Awake,” chronicles the deep depression she was trapped in after her Prince Charming-turned betrayer Russell Brand left her alone in a dark and crumbling world.
As she sings, “Falling from cloud 9, crashing from the high” and “You made it so sweet, Til I woke up on the concrete,” Katy searches for a way out of her blackened world, while the walls close in to crush her. All the life and light from her heart is extracted and sucked up into the dark heavens.
“And now it’s clear to me, that everything you see, Ain’t always what you seem,” she sings to her ex.
