When Lance Raymundo started his singing career ten years ago as a teenager who was still in high school, he was so painfully shy. But at a very young age, he was given a break by Viva Records and was able to have a hit single titled “You Are the One.”
But ballads are not his kind of music. What Lance really wanted is the dance-pop kind of music. But he was new and young then and he just followed what he was told. He decided to finish his studies and in 2008, after finishing college, he decided to go back to showbiz. But instead of singing, he was sidetracked into acting. He auditioned for a role in a TV series that was to be shot in Singapore. He passed the audition, got the lead role and that started Lance’s romance with acting. When he came back, he received an offer to do “Pieta” for ABS-CBN, where he played Turko, the main nemesis of Ryan Agoncillo who plays the male lead.
After that stint, more acting assignments followed in indie movies like “Fidel”, “Nursery” (shown in Cinemalaya), and “Paglilitis kay Bonifacio.” Acting became a part of his life. After he shifted management, Lance decided to go back to singing. After all, this was what he wanted in the first place. When he signed up with Shandii Bacolod, he was given the chance to record a CD which has the Wolf sound.
What is WOLF? “Wonders of Living and Freedom,” says Lance. “Siyempre, it was kind of long so I shortened it to Wolf. The term became my nickname and it also became my trademark in my CD. The reason why I named this project WOLF is because I am given the liberty to choose the kind of music I want and the kind of career I want to take.
“Outside of career, it’s nice to free yourself from negativity, from problems, kahit na maraming problema, to free yourself from that. My aim through this album is also to free you from worries. Forget the pressure of life. I hope this album will have this calming effect on people.”
Lance shot a music video called “FATanas,” combining the words Fat and Satanas. “Don’t get me wrong. I am not making fun of fat people nor trying to maligning them. Fatanas is an image. Maraming kasakiman, maraming taong mahilig manloko sa pera. What is your image of someone greedy? Di ba lumalaki o lumolobo? My image is for us not to be greedy para huwag kang matawag na Fatanas,” he explained.
According to Lance, “Fatanas” is just an image which he created. But is not meant to demean or malign anybody. “Cute naman pakinggan di ba? And it’s an experiment. The Wolf sound is a very high end club kind of music that’s why I decided to do a Tagalog song. Sabi ni Shandii na gumawa ako ng isang Tagalog song na novelty pero the song has still that electro-pop feel,” he said.
Now uploaded on You Tube is the new music video Lance Raymundo titled “FATanas” and he hopes that the video becomes a hit. His Wolf sound album is a very high end project that also involves Bea Tantoco of the Rustan’s Group of Companies. She’s doing a music video with Lance. Also doing a music video with Lance is Tim Yap (for the song King of the Party) and the group PYT (Pretty Young Thing) and with a basketball player Marcus Morrisson who is doing rap in a song written by Lance.
He is aiming for the club audience with his new sound but Lance opted to do “FATanas” so he could also reach out for the masa.
