Award-winning actress and Viva contract star Anne Curtis is excited with "No Other Woman," her newest movie under Star Cinema and Viva Films which opens on September 28. It marks her first time to portray the role of the mistress in the film directed by Ruel S. Bayani.
"It’s something new for me since you haven’t seen me portray this kind of role since I do mostly comedy or romance-comedy. It’s a breath of fresh air for me so I hope you’d like my character in the film," said Anne at the presscon of "No Other Woman" held the other day at the Dolphy Theater.
"The movie is kind of daring and sexy. It’s a for adults movie, young adults, I would say. But it’s nothing sexy that you would have to close your eyes. It’s not on that level. But it’s sexy in a way because I get to wear a swimsuit plus the story tackles domestic life already," added Anne.
She’s not sure if her boyfriend would watch "No Other Woman" on its premiere night on the 27th but she’s certain they’d watch it together. Anne says her boyfriend is very supportive of her career that she didn’t see the need to inform her boyfriend about the sexy scenes she did with Derek Ramsay in the movie that also features sexy star Cristine Reyes. "This is work and he understands. There’s no need for me to ask permission from him."
Anne also took the occasion to explain the alleged rumor that she is set to transfer to TV5 next year when her contract expires with ABS-CBN. This is an offshoot of the rumor that Megastar Sharon Cuneta, whose career is now being co-managed by Sandra Chavez and Viva’s top honcho Vic del Rosario, is also moving to TV5. Anne is also being managed by Boss Vic.
"I am happy with ABS-CBN so there’s no reason for me to leave. I haven’t heard of this rumor that I will be transferring to TV5. Viva knows that as long as I am happy with the work being given me by ABS-CBN, there’s no reason for me to leave ABS-CBN and so far I am happy with the way ABS-CBN is taking care of me. Viva and I haven’t talked about me transferring to another network."
Anne said she learned about her rumored impending transfer to TV5 via Tweeter but since it’s not true, she’s not making a big issue out of it. "Viva knows naman na the only time I will complain or ask for other options is when I am not happy anymore. But I am happy with ABS-CBN because they are giving me good projects," she added.
"Besides, ever since, Viva had been very, very supportive of what I want. Viva is not the kind of people who'd force you to do anything. If that includes me leaving in favor of another channel, it’s up to them. I will just do the job that I am supposed to do and as long as I am happy with my work, there’s no reason for me to move into another network," she said.
There was no hesitation on Anne’s part when she was offered by Viva and Star Cinema to play the role of the mistress in the drama film "No Other Woman."
"No, I didn’t have any hesitation or second thoughts. I have always been open in saying that I want to do something different. I am already 14 years in the business and the role of a mistress is one that I haven’t done yet. I am excited to do the part because I also get to go sexy and wear beautiful clothes. I love the role and I hope the audience would like it too," said Anne.
"People were then asking why I chose that role. Kasi as an actress, as you get older, you'd look at yourself doing other roles. Kasi you see na ang bubbly-bubbly ko. As an actress, it's also my frustration to get roles that would help me mature as an actress and I feel this role is it," said the Metro Manila Film Festival Best actress winner for "Baler."
"Natalie Portman is my idol and look at the movies she’s doing like Closer. She really tackles mature roles that you wouldn’t think she’d do but was able to pull it off like the Black Swan. I want to move forward as an actress," she quipped.

The country’s biggest reality TV show "The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition" comes to an exciting finish when the Fab Five and other eliminated contestants come together for a final weigh-in that will determine who among Angela, Art, Hazel, Larry, and Raffy will lose the highest weight percentage since the start of the show and be declared the very first Pinoy Biggest Loser at the Grand Finale this October 8 (Sat) at the Ynares Stadium in Pasig.
Armed with the knowledge gained during their four-month stay in the Biggest Loser camp, the Bigating Pinoys continue their journey in the real world and undergo rigorous weight loss regimen without the help of trainers Chinggay Andrada and Jim Saret.
Through the weeks, viewers have seen how the reality show has transformed the contestants physically, mentally, and emotionally. Some have visibly lost weight, while others have gained more confidence. As they work towards the finals, the remaining Fab Five have their own strategies to win.
While sweethearts Hazel and Raffy try hard to work out twice a day, Art and Angela make sure they get enough sleep and have a balanced diet.
"All these years, I have carried so much burden, pain, humiliation, anger, and sadness. So every lost pound was like an excess baggage thrown away and a symbolism of the new me," bar owner Art said.
By zooming in on the lives of overweight people and the negative impact of obesity on health, the program and its contestants have taught viewers how to adopt a healthy lifestyle and that losing weight can be achieved by exercising and eating the right food.
Hazel even considers joining the competition as her second life, saying that it "unraveled the Hazel that has long been suppressed." Though she admits that the whole world does not only revolve around losing weight, the Bigating Pinoys have proven that any obstacle can be overcome as long as one has the will and determination to reach his or her goal. "There are times you gain weight instead of losing weight. You should exert more effort. Though there are times you fail, you should carry on and not give up," she said.
The two other contestants affirmed how the show has transformed their lives. Sporting a new and healthier physique, Larry plans to return to the police force. On the other hand, Raffy has changed his outlook in life. He used to make excuses that stood between him and his weight goal but he now realizes that change must start with oneself. "You don’t need to be a contestant in 'Biggest Loser' to lose weight. You only need yourself," he said.
While the transformation of the Fab Five is evident, only one of them will be declared the first Pinoy Biggest Loser and take home P1 million, a newly furnished condominium unit from DCMI Homes, a Vespa scooter, a 40" Sony Bravia Internet TV, Whirlpool appliances and a lifetime Fitness First membership.
