Matahum nga Cebu: 7 Years of RCTV

CEBU, Philippines - Why does Real Cebu Television exist? The main reason for which it exists is CEBU. For seven years now, the Queen City of the South has continually inspired RCTV to come up with the best shows and content that could only showcase the best of the beautiful province.

So as it celebrates its 7th anniversary, it gives tribute to “Matahum Nga Cebu.”

A year ago, Lorenzo Niñal of Missing Filemon, Ian Zafra of Sheila and the Insects and acclaimed songwriter Jude Gitamondoc wrote the song “Matahum Nga Cebu.” This year, RCTV teamed up with ICO Music Publishing & Merchandising and Artist Ko (Artists & Musicians Cooperative) to come up with a Various Artists version of the song.

In collaboration with Artist Ko, it gathered some of Cebu’s homegrown artists like Raki Vega (Ultimate Born Diva), Lorenzo “Insoy” Niñal (Missing Filemon), Cattski Espina (CATTSKI) and Aldwin Rondina (Soulstring) to record the Various Artists version of Matahum Nga Cebu. Some of Cebu’s newest artists are also part of the project. The producer and arranger of the song’s various artists version is no other than Jude Gitamondoc and the song was recorded and mixed by Jad Bantug of 10-32 Studios. Mediaone Creative Inc., RCTV’s production house, produced the music video for it.

The music video showcases the best of Cebu. Last Nov. 26, 2010, the best local bands of Cebu came together at the Parkmall Grounds across The Veranda to join in the celebration of Matahum Nga Cebu. Performing live were WOMB, WONGGOYS & CATTSKI and the premiere of the Matahum Nga Cebu (Various Artists Version) Music Video. One great song for one beautiful province. One local channel celebrating seven solid years.
