Joyce Jimenez keeps it private

Joyce Jimenez is still loveless but she has a constant date, a non-showbiz guy, whom she declined to name. “He’s not from showbiz naman so please no names na lang,” said the sexy actress, who was dubbed as Pantasya ng Bayan when she was launched to stardom via “Scorpio Nights 2.”

Joyce said she’d rather be private when it comes to her affairs of the heart. She has certainly learned her lesson after her tumultuous and controversial affair with an actor.

The sexy star is content on devoting more time to her lingerie and intimate apparel business Private Joyce which she herself manages. Since graduating from college two years ago, Joyce has taken the reins of running Private Joyce.

Private Joyce was initially introduced in 2000 with a special limited edition Private Joyce Magazine featuring Joyce in her most provocative and revealing poses.

It was soon followed by the release of a 16-month calendar for 2001. Due to the tremendous success of both magazine and calendar, in March 2002, Private Joyce applied the successful formula to the brand by launching its lingerie and undergarments line.

After six years in the market, the Private Joyce line of intimate apparel is expanding by tying up with Mr. Dioceldo S. Sy’s Ever Bilena under their Direct Selling scheme of the famed beauty brand. Now you can get Private Joyce items that are exclusive under the Direct Selling deal with Ever Bilena. There are more items on sale in the Private Joyce shops in several malls, but the ones you’d see there, you won’t find in the catalogue carried by Ever Bilena.

This deal between Private Joyce and Ever Bilena is part of Joyce’s plan to expand the business and reach out to more buyers nationwide. She is very hands-on when it comes to attending to her business. Through this set up, she’s able to get feedback from customers with regards to their preferences. She’s also able to get information on how they could improve their products and services.

“Our partnership with Ever Bilena will give Private Joyce the chance to introduce our intimate apparel line to people in the provinces,” said Joyce. “It’s not easy for me to go to the provinces but with Ever Bilena’s help, we will be able to reach more people and expand our market share.”

Carlo Aquino denied he has something to do with the supposed “bad attitude” allegedly being displayed by Maja Salvador, said to be his latest squeeze. The young actor is supposedly the “bad influence” in Maja’s life and is reportedly the reason why Maja and her manager, movie columnist Chit Ramos, had a falling out.

At the presscon of the GMA afternoon series “Maging Akin Ka Lamang,” Carlo had the chance to defend himself and answer the issues regarding the matter.

“Kawawa naman ako kung ganoon ang tingin nila sa akin,” said Carlo. “Wala naman akong kinalaman kung may sinasabi man silang ganyan. Hindi naman ako boyfriend ni Maja at hindi rin naman ako nanliligaw sa kanya.”

He even added that Maja’s manager treats him well. In fact, there was one time when they went out together—he, Maja and Manay Chit. If ever Maja and Manay Chit have a falling out, Carlo said he has nothing to do with it. Besides, he’s neither Maja’s boyfriend nor is courting her. If ever they did go out, it was just a friendly date and should not be construed as something romantic.

In any case, Carlo said he really felt nervous but felt challenged nonetheless when he learned that he will be portraying the role originated by the late Jay Ilagan in the Lino Brocka classic “Maging Akin Ka Lamang” for which Lorna Tolentino won several acting awards. It was a good thing that he was given a copy of the film so he was able to watch and study how Jay tackled the said role.

“Direk Gil (Tejada) was also a big help to me. He guided me in my portrayal,” added Carlo who’s playing a lawyer in the TV version of “Maging Akin Ka Lamang,” which also features Nadine Samonte and Polo Ravales in the lead roles. “There are certain nuances needed in the role of a lawyer and I know I need to do the role the right way.”

He hasn’t had a new movie offer since the indie film, “Sa Aking Pagkakagising sa Kamulatan,” for which he won Best Performance by An Actor in Drama from the Golden Screen Awards. Right now, he’s also busy promoting his band Kollide’s debut album under Viva Records. They recently came back from a mall show in the province.

“Maging Akin Ka Lamang,” the sixth installment of Sine Novela series, premieres on Monday, January 21, after Daisy Siete on GMA 7’s Dramarama sa Hapon

He’s better known as a dramatic actor so it’s going to be an acid test for Dennis to prove that he also got what it takes to excel in comedy. Will he have the guts and the power to hold his own with the Bubble Gang cast namely Michael V, Ogie Alcasid, Rufa Mae Quinto, Francine Prieto, Diana Zubiri, Wendell Ramos, Antonio Aquitania and Boy 2 Quizon?

Dennis would surely have his hands full with the jokes and gags awaiting him in his stint in Bubble Gang, the longest-running gag show on Philippine TV.
