Piolo Pascual wants to be a pastor

Polo Pascual wants to become a pastor.

The actor revealed this at the presscon of his movie "Paano Kita Iibigin" where he is paired with Regine Velasquez last Wednesday night at the 9501 Restaurant at the ABS-CBN building of ABS-CBN.

"If there''s one thing that I really wanted to be, it''s to be a pastor," says Piolo who attends the Victory Christian Fellowship in Greenhills where he heads a small group. "I feel I have done many things in my showbiz career. I want to concentrate this time on my ministry so I can serve the Lord."

Does this mean he is leaving his showbiz career? "No, but then, siguro naman may mga bagay na habang tumatagal puwedeng huwag mo nang gawin," answers Piolo who does a steamy love scene with Regine in "Paano Kita Iibigin," a co-production venture between Star Cinema and Viva Films under the direction of Bb. Joyce Bernal.

He has been thinking of the idea to become a pastor for sometime now. But this doesn''t mean that he has done everything that he had hoped for in his showbiz career. Nevertheless, Piolo admits he has quite a lot of achievements tucked under his belt already.

"I am not saying that I''ve done everything in my career but there are some things that I need not do anymore or get back again just to prove myself," says Piolo. "I am happy with what I have achieved, so I think there would come a time I would slow down and focus more on my ministry."

He continues, "With the many things I''ve achieved in life, my hunger is focused now on my ministry rather than my work. I am already 30 and I''ve done so much. The Lord has been very good to me and I am so blessed. I started thinking about this when I was 25. I thought I should focus on other things, not only on my career."

What made him decide to re-focus his attention?

"Too much success. Well, other than the success, it''s the blessings that the Lord has willingly given me. I was humbled by that. I consider myself nothing to be deserving of God''s blessings. I realized I don''t control my life so that was when I decided to give my life to the Lord. I realized I am not worthy to be receiving so much blessings from the Lord. I lead a sinful life. It''s unfair that no matter how much the Lord blesses you, you still lead a sinful life. I don''t feel worthy," he explains.

Piolo doesn''t see anything wrong in doing a steamy love scene, or any sexy scene in a film, saying it doesn''t go against his religious beliefs. "It''s between me and God. Kung ano ang sinasabi ng ibang artists about this matter, nasa limitation nila iyan," said the actor.

"I am not going bold, going naked or do frontal nudity. But when it comes to doing love scenes, it depends on how you handle the scene, or how it is executed by the director. I don''t think the movie would suffer if the sexy scenes would be done tastefully. There''s no need to show things that should not be shown," the actor explains.

Piolo says the same thing goes when it comes to agreeing to pose sexy for a magazine. "It depends if you want to do something. If you think you''d want to titillate your audience and attract attention, it''s up to you. As for me, I will do what is asked of me, not to arouse the people, but what is needed for the particular campaign or photo shoot. But going sexy doesn''t mean going naked," he said.

He added that he would also want to capture the general audience, including the children, that''s why he wouldn''t want to go overboard in doing a sexy scene. Showing something more than what''s needed would lessen the chances of the movie getting a GP rating.

Some time last year, the cell-phone video scandals of stars became a big issue. It started in Internet groups, sites and blogs-and was picked up by writers and television talk shows.

Bruce Quebral''s shower scene in Slovenia Big Brother is now in the Internet, and some enterprising soul has converted the video in a 3gp format, that no wonder if the video would find its way into your cellphones.

Dennis Trillo just denied that he has a cell-phone video and this is one of the big stories to be featured in Showbiz Central on GMA-7 this Sunday.

Two other pictures have found its way and are circulating in the Internet. First, is the picture of former Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition housemate Bianca Gonzales, whose photo was shot upfront, supposedly without her underwear. But upon closer view, Bianca is wearing an underwear, but it is skin-colored and seemed like see-through.

Last Tuesday, a picture was circulating in the gay Yahoo groups. This was the photo of Joross Gamboa. The young actor is shot topless and the hair below his navel can be seen. Wonder if Joross has any idea that this photo of him has found its way into the Internet?

Despite her busy taping schedules for her Sunday hosting of QTV 11''s top-rater Pop Star Kids and her regular live stint over at SOP of GMA 7, Kyla, the country''s RnB Princess still finds time to share her kind of music to fans and supporters who frequent the bars.

On April 27th, a Friday, she will be staging another bar tour visit at RATSKY in Tomas Morato. She normally does her standard repertoire of RnB, but she also dares herself to try classics and jazz, to which even the likes of Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera get amazed by her almost effortless and yet wonderful rendition.

Among the popular choices that Kyla includes in her repertoire are "Beautiful Days" and "How Am I Gonna Tell," two of the more exciting cuts from her fifth album under EMI Records and some old classics like those of Aretha Franklin''s and Elvis Presley''s. Constantly requested are her versions of the hit songs by Mariah Carey, Beyonce Knowles and even Britney Spears. She also veers away from doing the same songs she does on SOP every Sunday and replaces it by doing ala-medley rendition of band hits and Tagalog songs that are made popular by her and used in teleseryes and other GMA 7 shows like "Love to Love," "Wish Ko Lang," et cetera.

"She never stops reinventing herself. She always amazes her audience every time she hits the notes," commented one supporter of Kyla. "Even in her hosting, she surprises us," reacted another, who related that Kyla even plays and throws jokes along with the certified stand-up performers at the bars where she stages her shows, just like what she did in her last concert with Janno Gibbs in Klownz, Pampanga.

Then on May 4 (another Friday), Kyla will entertain the bar-goers and regular customers of 19th East Bar, located at 19 Service Road, Sucat Parañaque. For sure, it will be just another successful tour for Kyla whose songs continue to enjoy quite a following especially among the cellphone users who download them as ring tones.

She also has just signed up a short-term contract with Hapee Toothpaste as its latest endorser. And of course she has a very much intact and happier lovelife with PBA idol Rich Alvarez. Before this year ends, she is expecting to fulfill her other dream of being part of an exciting movie project under GMA Films.
