KC's message to her mom is truly beautiful and we are sure that a lot of Sharon's fans (as well as KC's) would be interested to read that message. Actually, somebody also forwarded the same message to us through a text message after seeing on the Internet but we decided not to write about it because when we told Sharon about it, she requested us not to write or print it since it's something personal. KC might not also like to see it being written about.
To heed Sharon's request (who are we to turn down the request of the megastar?) and to make sure we won't be tempted to write about it in our column, we erased the message from our inbox. But on second thought, we thought it would be nice to share it with everyone, since KC's message reflects the kind of upbringing Sharon raised her daughter. KC has grown up to be a fine, well-mannered, decent and smart young lady any man would want to bring home to his mother. It is to Sharon's credit alone that KC grew up the way she is.
With due apologies to Shawie (but we are sure she will understand), we are running KC's message to her mom here and sharing it to the readers of The FREEMAN. We begged the person who forwarded to us the message to send it to us again. To tell you frankly, we were moved to tears by KC's message. We felt the sincerity in her words, and reading through and between the lines, we knew how much she loves her mom.
Since we also saw this on the net, we are sure other writers have probably stumbled upon it also. Read on, the title of the message is "The Real Deal."
"Sure, I am seeing my father again for the first time, after long ten years. Sure, it's a big deal, but this is the first time for me to say: It was my mother who raised me and put herself through hell to keep our lives running, while he wasn't around. It was my mother who always put effort into avoiding speaking ill about him to give me a great impression of my father while I was growing up. Sure, I had to tweak and manipulate my mind to adjust to a "new" concept of family through the years.
"It worked out just fine, but it wasn't easy. Sure, I love my father and my stepfather. I love them a lot, but it is my mother who is worth more than anything else. It is she, and not a man, who will walk me down the aisle for my wedding march
"Sure, I have my own life to live, my own name to build, and my own burdens to worry about, but someone's gotta begin the process of resolving unfinished business. "Life is just damn short to be angry all the time."
Isn't it touching? Sharon is lucky to have a daughter like KC but we dare say that KC is even more fortunate to have Sharon as her mom. Sharon never thought of anything else except KC's welfare. She endured all the pain and heartaches, accepted all the brickbats and swallowed all the intrigues, just to protect her daughter. And she's being rewarded for her efforts as she raised a very beautiful and wonderful daughter any mother would be proud of.
Anyhow, Sharon surprised everyone when she suddenly popped at the birthday party of veteran movie writer Ate Nora (Calderon) at the A Taste of LA resto last Tuesday night. Out of nowhere, Sharon entered the room and her presence brought a spark in everyone's eyes.
We were in the resto until 1:45 am and if there were no deadlines to meet (such as this one, the next day), then we would have probably stayed there until 5 am, early enough to catch the newspaper boy deliver the paper or rub elbows with the pan de sal vendor as he goes around
peddling his freshly baked bread. No one wanted to leave as Sharon regaled everyone with her stories, even if there were a number of off-the-record statements. Knowing how talkative Sharon is, especially when she's in the mood, Sharon talked and talked while having her dinner of pasta, chicharon bulaklak, shrimp tempura, and ended with a two slices of cake. Wasn't she supposed to be on a diet?
"I know, but it's Ate Noi's birthday and I've been depriving myself of food for days so please let me eat," she says and followed this with hearty laughter. And knowing how much she loves to talk, it was as if it took Sharon more than two years to finish her dinner. Of course, it was because she was making all sorts of kuwento on just about anything - the men in her life (her lovelife), her heartaches and triumphs, her joys and sadness, her daddy Pablo Cuneta, her husband Kiko, her daughters KC, Frankie and Miel, and her studies at the UP Open University Program.
There were so many off-the-record declarations, but it was such a pleasant surprise to see and hear the megastar open up her heart, something that she only does in the company of very, very close friends. The kuwentuhan was peppered with laughter and even an exchange of high fives as well as punctuated with applauses at times (from the members of the press), as Sharon talked animatedly ("Napraning yata ako sa mga kuwento ko," she would text us later, suddenly remembering the many off the record statements she unloaded). But she made everyone promise that the off the record statements should remain as they were and we are not going to make the mistake of reneging on our promise, lest the megastar would get mad, and keep things to herself the next time we see each other for a chika-chika.
If there were laughter (and there were lots of it!), there were also tears, especially when someone mentioned about KC's touching message to her. She turned misty-eyed and we saw Sharon wipe away her tears as she talked about her daughter, who is graduating next year from college with a degree in Corporate Communications (Minor in Theater), while recalling the message and how she felt about it.
Sharon also announced that after three years, she's finally working on a new movie. She's starting her much-delayed movie with Aga Muhlach for Star Cinema by the end of August. They already have a script although some things need to be ironed out regarding the ending. But Sharon assures the viewers that it's going to be a very different and daring Sharon they will see in the movie.
"No, I am not going topless, but I'd probably would if I had the body for it," she jokes, "but the role is something that you'd never imagine that I'd do. I won't give you details as to what it will be because I want to shock everyone."
The megastar is raring to start work. After all, it's been three years since she last did a movie. After this project, Sharon is set to do a solo movie also for Star Cinema. Then she will co-produce with Star Cinema and Unitel Pictures.
Sharon disclosed that GMA Films did offer her a project and that they were ready to shoot any time but she requested the GMA Films people to allow her to do a comeback movie under Star Cinema, since ABS-CBN is her home studio. No problem, says GMA Films, and the megastar would probably do a film with them next year.
She says, "I love the GMA people and I am very thankful to them since they used four of my songs as theme songs of their Koreanovelas even if some of their homegrown artists like Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs and Regine Velasquez also did their own versions of my songs. Paano ko naman sila hindi mamahalin?"
