CEBU, Philippines - Known to provide eco-friendly products due to its LED (light-emitting diode) backlight technology, officials of ACER and MDR Microware Sales Inc. are encouraging users to move to such innovation to minimize negative environmental impact.
MDR Microware Sales Inc. Executive President Elvi Suficiencia said that both companies have been aggressive in promoting LED technology to users.
Compared to LED products that are eco-compliant, he noted that those in plain technology consume a lot of power and contain hazardous components such as lead and mercury which are fatal to the nervous system.
“We are looking forward that the local community would be more aware of this technology. There is not much difference in the pricing for plain technology and LED but consider the engine. Actually, ACER new notebooks are all LEDS,” he said.
Recently, ACER Group Philippines appointed MDR Microware Sales, Inc. as the new Visayas and Mindanao regional distributor for ACER’s full range of LED display monitors as part of its geographical expansion.
Suficiencia said that with a strong product portfolio for commercial and consumer purposes, financial stability, expertise, business discipline, strategic geography and agility, MDR could bridge the gap between innovation and VisMin demands.
Aside from being a business friend, he added that they will ensure product availability and consistency of supply for both regions as ACER’s distributor.
MDR Microware Sales, Inc. has distribution hubs in Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro and Iloilo.
Agnes Espino, sales and marketing director of Acer Group Philippines, said that Acer has accounted 40% of the market share in the country along with other PC brands.
She noted that Philippines is growing in terms of the units for shipments from 1.7 million units last year to 2.3 million in 2012.
“This is the perfect place in Asia. Philippines is financially a right place compared to other neighboring countries. Opportunities are growing the business here – both for the commercial and consumer,” she continued.
She added that the company expects further growth this year as the tablet market is growing that caters to the demands from retail, consumer, schools and other academic institutions that are currently adapting to soft-copy types of notes.
Acer Philippines Product Specialist Darrel Denby So cited the company’s product line of innovation such as S Series Acer Monitor which is designed for users with limited space at home or small office, enthusiasts of slim technology, and advocates of earth-friendliness and Olympic Computer Monitor in Olympic Games edition that caters to office professionals, design and graphic artists, lab architects, and exhibitors.
