SMEs told to streamline biz with online banking

CEBU, Philippines - As the business community projects growth and development, banks advise small and medium enterprises to utilize efficient and effective solutions such as online banking to streamline their business processes and management.

Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co. Cash Management Division Vice President Chorie Candice Chan said that the banks strive to be part of the solution process for businesses thus looking out for more products and services.

“We think of things for the business. The banking industry is now evolving as there are changes when we think no longer of the basics and plains,” she said.

Serving as one of the speakers during the Cebu Bankers Club Seminar last June 13, she further revealed that the bank is now into a solution-based partnership with Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) to become active in the business community.

“If you are not part of the solution, then you may be part of the problem. The theme here basically is to simplify, streamline and rationalize business processes for the business sector. Unlike before when you just go to the bank to deposit or to withdraw, now you can move forward and make use of your bank,” she stated.

She added that with Metrobank brand of internet banking facility, account owners could be able to access their accounts with “just a click of their fingers”, describing it as “not just within your reach but already at your grasp.”

Aside from access to account information, Chan cited that the facility enables real-time banking transactions online, viewing of account statements, funds transfer, bill payments, account sweep and e-payroll service.

She also said that the internet banking facility also provides collection solutions such as deposit pick-up, real-time debit for future-dated payments, bill payment collection management and post-dated check warehousing in which the business can outsource the collection process with the bank that serves as its collecting agent.

“The banks have really gone a long way. Now you let the bank do it for you,” she added.

She further noted that the bank assures the security, availability and convenience of such services since it recognizes the importance of financial transactions in a particular business. (FREEMAN)
