What happened to the drive against vehicles that are running at night without headlights?
We are asking this question as several of our readers have asked us the same thing.
One reader said that he still sees many jeepneys with their headlights off passing through the main roads of the city and nobody seems to be apprehending the drivers.
Another noted that there are also several private vehicles that he has spotted to be running at night without headlights on.
The reader asked us not to name him as he is worried about his safety with comments like that. We told him that we understand why he feels that way as we too see the lack of traffic law enforcement on the South Coastal Road.
We’re not afraid to tell the Talisay City police and officials though that they’re pretty bad when it comes to traffic law enforcement.

With the fiesta celebrations coming, we hope that the organizers will think hard about closing roads or holding events right in the middle of busy roads without regards for the safety of the revelers.
Late Friday night, we passed by A. S. Fortuna St. in Mandaue City and there was a portion of the road where a stage was set up and the people watching the show had to stand on the sides of the road.
There was a tanod, who was tasked to help control the flow of traffic, but obviously, the organizers of that event did not think hard about safety.
Maybe the organizers can say that there was no untoward incident that happened, so it must have been fine, but do they have to wait for an accident to think properly?
This goes to all organizers of fiesta celebrations. Please think of safety before deciding to build stages on the sides of the road and worse, on the road itself. Yes, it is your fiesta celebration, but you don’t have to put the lives of the revelers in danger.

Many have plans to take long trips next week and we’d like to remind everyone to have your vehicles checked by reputable mechanics or the casa to make sure that they are road worthy.
Many accidents are caused by vehicles that are not fit to travel but are used anyway.
Also, be careful about overloading your vehicles when you go on long trips. Aside from being uncomfortable, it will also cause extra wear and tear to your vehicle.
Think safety.
