CEBU, Philippines - Publicly listed IP Converge Data Center, Inc. announced that it will build a data center facility in Cebu early next year, that would cost the company at least P100 million.
In a press conference, IP Converge Data Center, Inc president Reynaldo R. Huergas said that Cebu, which was able to etch its name in as the number one emerging destination for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), and one of the favorite expansion destinations for local and multinational companies, should be able to have data center facility.
However, as early as now, Huergas said the company still has to educate the Cebu market on the importance of data-center, how it would benefit their businesses, as well as how to cut cost in maintaining their own data centers.
IP Converge, a global company, but owned by Filipino, is an Information Technology and Telecommunications (IT&T) company, providing wide array of managed data services and business solutions at international standards.
Recently, IP Converge, together with APC by Schneider Electric, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, hosted an executive product briefing with representatives from Cebu’s top businesses.
The joint activity is aimed at showcasing the two alternatives in order to achieve a Smarter Data Center which translates to Smarter Management of an organization’s digital resources.
The event also highlighted the latest offerings available to address the increasing market requirement for a secure, robust and highly resilient data center service, for in-house and outsourcing needs.
Philippe Reveilhac, country manager of Schneider Electric in the Philippines said the company sees a growing trend among large-scale data cater operators from high-end enterprise markets.
“We see a slow but steady upward movement in the economy and an increasing number of businesses share this optimism. An illustration of this is our joint project with IP-Converge in preparation for their plan to widen market reach to the South,” Reveilhac said.
One key strategy utilized by the IT company is the turnkey data center offering for customers who prefer to maintain full operational control of their data center. A special feature of this is the APC InfraStruXure, APC’s flagship design architecture that incorporate to-of-the-line, cutting edge technologies that are global and industry-compliant to enable operation efficiency at full capacity and maintain the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
According to Huergas, there is an immense business opportunity offered by the various businesses in the South.
“As more businesses continue to strive for global competitiveness, they need to accept that outsourcing Internet Data Center requirements is a more viable option in fulfilling this objective so that they can focus on their core business. Our Managed Data Services which include data center co-location that uses APC technology as well as Internet bandwidth and connectivity, can address such requirements without the huge capital investments,” Huergas said.
