CEBU, Philippines - Acknowledging the increasing public interest in health and wellness, businesses offering services related to this is looking for more ways to expand and widen their scope.
One of the leading establishments offering health and wellness services is Holiday Gym and Spa, which noted growing number of members in the past year.
Holiday Gym and Spa Cebu branch manager Veronica Enriquez said that there was an increase in membership of over 20 percent for 2009.
She said that their sales for 2009 was even better than 2008 regardless of the global financial crisis which they were gearing forward for since the start of reports of the economic downturn.
Enriquez said that this is due to the multiplying support and interest of the people for health and wellness activities in line with the intensifying promotion of Cebu as the premiere destination for health and wellness services in Asia .
She said that this is why they are looking forward for more ways to cater to more customers especially in 2010, and they have already a lot of programs lined up.
This including sports conditioning, which is basically on cardio and training that is made specifically for the increasing number of runners in Cebu .
Enriquez said that since fun runs and marathons are becoming a fad and since a lot of their present clients are into running, they will be adapting the internal training which is one of the firsts in Cebu .
Aside from this, she said that they will continue offering promos and packages like the Valentine promo as well as a promo during summer, which is the peak season of the establishment. Enriquez also revealed that aside from these, the company would also be making a bigger expansion by starting with the construction of a two-story hotel near the gym in Banilad.
The construction is scheduled to start in January and targeted to be finished by the end of this year.
She said that this is to cater to the short-time vacationers who would like to avail of the services they are offering which is complete of gym facilities, boxing, swimming pool, and group exercises like hip hop classes, pilates, yoga and many more. Holiday also offers spa and massage treatments like Shiatsu and Swedish oil massages.
The expansion of holiday is made not only due to the increasing members from the local market but the stepping up of the foreign market like the Koreans and Americans.
Enriquez said that this is a sign of their optimism for the year ahead and that there are more plans in the works which would be shared later on.—AJ de la Torre
