Chikka rewards loyal users with new version

MANILA, Philippines - Chikka, the creator of Chikka Text Messenger, celebrates its 14th anniversary by releasing the latest version of its popular free text messaging application.

The Chikka Text Messenger Version 6 offers more free text messages to the Philippines daily, giving users bigger reasons to smile as it translates to more meaningful conversations and savings.

Aside from additional text credits that Chikka users have been clamoring for, Version 6 also includes cooler features that would surely fare well with tech-savvy Pinoys.

Users can now choose to link their Chikka accounts to their favorite social networks so signing in will be as easy as clicking on a button. This feature comes in handy especially to those who cannot keep up with all the passwords and logins they need to remember.

“With Chikka Version 6, users can seamlessly access their account from different devices. Whether they prefer to send texts via Web at work, use their phone while on the go or shift to a tablet at home, their messages will be backed up and synched across all devices,” said Junie Agcaoili, Chikka corporate communications director.

Another convenient feature available in Chikka Version 6 for Android and iOS is Contacts Sync, which allows users to simply sync the app with their phone’s contacts for free texting that’s a cinch.

“Gone are the days when you have to add a buddy and wait for their confirmation before you can start texting for free,” Agcaoili said.

Team Chikka released its Version 6 in January. It stays free and accessible anytime for the Web at www.chikka.com or for mobile via Android and iOS devices.

Back in 2000, Chikka revolutionized the way Filipinos in different parts of the world communicate with their families. The first version of Chikka Text Messenger allowed overseas Filipino workers to stay in touch with their loved ones for free via SMS at a time when long-distance call rates were so expensive and when even international texting was not always possible between countries.

“Bridging the gap between our hardworking global Filipinos and their loved ones has always been our inspiration. We know how communication plays a vital role in keeping their relationships strong. This is why we are giving them the Chikka Version 6 that can keep up with their busy lives,” Agcaoili said.

With billions of messages exchanged between online and mobile communities since 2001, Chikka’s flagship Chikka Text Messenger has been probably the world’s first commercially successful integration of Web and mobile utilities.

The company has since evolved into an incubator for new technologies and innovation, producing telco-grade platforms and real value-added services for the new digital and mobile generation. Its mission, first stated in 2000, is “to bring together communities, heretofore separated by geographical barriers and differences in technology.”

Chikka is a subsidiary of the Philippines’ largest telecommunications group PLDT-Smart Communications.
