Smart Communications Inc. set a new standard for the country’s wireless industry with the availability of the most affordable third-generation (3G) handset for its postpaid and prepaid subscribers.
The LG KU250 prepaid phonekit retails at only P6,290 and is available at Smart’s numerous 3G services to a much wider subscriber base.
Selected by the GSM Association (GSMA) to lead the worldwide “3G For All” campaign announced during the 2007 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, the LG KU250 is an entry-level 3G phone that is more than well-equipped to handle basic wireless communication needs and multimedia-rich 3G content and services.
Dressed in an elegant black shell, the sleek device is equipped with a dual camera.
It can also be used for high-speed Internet access using Smart’s 3G network either on the phone or connecting it to a PC or a laptop.
With 10MB internal memory, and expandable memory using a Micro SD card, the device can also be used as an audio and video player that supports the most popular audio and video file formats.
With the LG KU250, subscribers can also access Smart’s 3G services, like Video Calling, Full-track Music Downloads, Video Streaming, Video Dating, and a lot more.
Jerome Almirante, 3G Business Head, said: “This is a significant 3G milestone for Smart. Offering this product demonstrates our commitment to providing not only affordable 3G services, but also affordable devices to access these services.”
The LG KU250 is available to Smart Gold postpaid subscribers and is free under Plan 800.
For Smart Buddy prepaid subscribers, the phone kit will be available at Smart Wireless Centers beginning June 5.
