Urbandub is country’s first Moto-Alert Local Choice Artist

Indie artist Urbandub is not your typical next-door band and it doesn’t aspire to be. Based in Cebu, the band stayed away from the strings of offers from big record labels.

But it cannot elude the glare of the limelight for too long, especially when it recently bagged the elusive title of the country’s first Moto-Alert Local Choice Artist.

Comprised of Gabby Alipe on vocals/rhythm guitars, John Dinopol on back-up vocals/lead guitar, Lalay Lim on bass and Jerros Dolino on drums, Urbandub took home big wins at the NU107 Rock Awards such as Song of the Year for Soul Searching in 2003 and Album of the Year for Influence in 2004.

When MTV Hijack was held in Cebu, Parokya Ni Edgar, Kitchie Nadal and Junior Kilat vied for the title of the country’s first Moto Artist. Urbandub edged them all based on audience text response.

Always striving to be atypical, Urbandub is not afraid to evolve. It is unabashed and edgier in its sound yet dabbling in familiar themes people could easily relate to.

The event also served the launch of Motorola E398 Hijacked by MTV, which delivers a brilliantly rebellious mobile experience. This upgraded model has a lot of cool crap that your mom and dad hate. It’s the only phone that farts.

It rewrites the rules of ringtones, alerts, screensavers, SMS/MMS templates and wallpapers to Motorola’s youth-focused handset.

Updates on existing content and cutting-edge capabilities include SMS templates that speak a universal language shared by young people and a host of preloaded wallpapers, screensavers, phonebook IDs and MMS animations with in-your-face characters and offbeat illustrations.

It has new interchangeable skins, allowing users to personally customize the look and feel of the phone at their every whim – depending on their mood, outfit, season, time of the day. Go from "techno-geek" to "animal print" at the touch of a button.

New ringtones and alerts – all hijacked to put a new spin on audio reality. Plus its 64MB transflash memory card allows you to store more funky contents to your desire.

Meanwhile, Motorola E398 Hijacked by MTV offers a total music immersion experience, offering a new world of sound and vision. 3D stereo surround sound speakers provide an intense sound experience in the palm of your hand.

A sharp color screen means your favorite MPEG4 video clips never look fuzzy. And rhythm lights interact with the phone’s features and the surroundings, making the E398 the most alive music handset around.
