In an agreement, Siemens will provide WALK-Air, a state-of-the-art, point-to-multipoint (PMP) optimal solution that will prepare BellTel to offer services using a variety of wideband and broadband applications.
WALKAir is a system that uses a multi-frequency band, large-capacity base stations, and multiple service support that will enable BellTel to utilize an all-in-one wireless access solution.
This would strengthen BellTels objective of delivering world-class, converged voice and data services.
With fast, reliable and high-speed connectivity being a necessary investment for businesses to succeed in this era of convergence, carriers are moving to provide consumers with efficient and cost-effective communications solutions.
Connectivity is evolving from simple telephony to true convergence where computers, laptops, personal digital assistants and cellular phones are all linked to provide seamless integration of services and applications for increased productivity and convenience.
Joby de Belen, BellTels vice president for sales and marketing, said, "WALKAir is a comprehensive solution that supports a wide range of bandwidths up to multiples of E1s (2 Mbps). Its this cutting-edge speed, reliability and versatility that allows us to package our leased line services in such a way that we can meet and even exceed the requirements of our customers. Our partnership with Siemens extends to building the highest level of service, fault tolerance and optimized network design to maximize coverage and capacity."
The PMP design of WALKAir enables BellTel to increase the number of subscribers served per base station while providing consistent quality voice and data services.
The high-capacity network will allow BellTel to focus more on expanding broadband services that would let subscribes enjoy future applications while experiencing minimal capital expenditure on infrastructure.
