MANILA, Philippines - General Imaging (GIC), the exclusive worldwide licensee of GE digital cameras, is expanding its model range with a host of new feature-packed digicams with one model capable of shooting high-definition (HD) videos underwater.
The colorful pocket-sized GE DV1 camcorder features a rugged exterior that’s shockproof up to a five-foot drop, dustproof, and waterproof at depths of up to 16 feet.
It boasts one-touch full-HD (1080p) movie recording and has a convenient flip-out USB plug for easy connectivity to a PC, Mac or even a USB-enabled HD TV. It can shoot still photos at five-megapixel resolution.
Other features include an HDMI jack for full HD output, a 2.5-inch LCD screen with automatic brightness adjustment, a li-ion battery that can record up to 80 minutes of continuous video, and SD/SDHC memory card support for up to 32GB.
The versatile yet low-priced (P5,995) DV1 comes in lime green, aqua blue, citrus orange, red velvet, and graphite gray.
As for the other models, GE builds on its Power and Power Pro lines with three new cameras - the Power Pro X500, Power Pro PJ1, and Power E1450W.
The Power Pro X500 takes on the success of the GE Power Pro X5 and adds more features such as a 16-megapixel image sensor, an electronic viewfinder, Optical Image Stabilization, powerful 15x optical zoom, and a 27-mm wide-angle lens.
While easy to use as most point-and-shoot cameras, the X500 still packs in advanced features like Shutter and Aperture Priority modes, High Dynamic Range, and Smile, Blink, and Face Detection.
The Power Pro X500 comes in white or black and retails for P9,995.
The Power Pro PJ1, on the other hand, is a 14.1-megapixel camera with a 7x optical zoom.
It comes with a built-in Pico projector that allows you to project images and videos in your camera up to 70 inches diagonally on any surface. You can even project these from your PC with the projector.
This point-and-shoot has a three-inch LCD screen and can capture 720p HD video at 30 frames per second (fps) and is equipped with Optical Image Stabilization, High Dynamic Range, Face Auto Exposure, and Face, Smile, and Blink Detection.
The Power Pro PJ1, which also boasts a unique Pan-Capture Panorama shooting mode, retails for P14,995.
Meanwhile, the Power E1450W combines an ultra-slim aluminum design with features such as 720p HD video, 28-mm wide-angle lens, and image stabilization. This 14-megapixel camera also has a 5x optical zoom and the same scene modes as the other two cameras.
It has a 2.7-inch LCD screen and retails for a value-leading P5,995. It comes in black, silver and red.
Other models in GE’s new digital camera range include the P5,250 E1680W and the P3,495 14-megapixel C1433.
