Alcatel-Lucent, KPN develop Web 2.0 app innovation

MANILA, Philippines - In line with their shared Web 2.0 Application Enablement vision, Alcatel-Lucent and leading European service provider KPN have jointly announced that they have co-developed and demonstrated how to expose features on KPN’s fixed network to maximize value to subscribers.

Web 2.0 refers to advanced technology and applications that facilitate interactive operability of the Internet, such as blogs, wikis, RSS, and social bookmarking.

Both Alcatel-Lucent and KPN are working on technology that combines the trusted capabilities of service providers with the speed and innovation of the Web to enable a new generation of services that provides both consumers and business users with richer experiences.

“We have worked with KPN to find an elegant way to merge its network capabilities with the inventiveness of a vast ecosystem of developers to maximize the value KPN can bring to its subscribers,” said Kenneth Frank, president of Alcatel-Lucent Solutions.

“KPN’s holistic and pragmatic approach to Application Enablement will secure the company’s proposition in the Web 2.0 value chain and beyond.”
