MANILA, Philippines - The country’s digital technology industry is expanding so fast that its premier annual trade show has to be moved to a much bigger venue to accommodate its growing number of players, who are either exhibitors or visitors.
Event organizer Fiera de Manila said that while Graphic Expo and Photo-Video Expo (PVX) would stick to its annual schedule in June, their venue this year would be the SMX Convention Center because of its much bigger exhibit space.
“Industry players are always looking forward to these back-to-back events (Graphic Expo and PVX) so we are compelled to announce in advance the change of venue,” said Fiera de Manila vice president Norelyn Babiera.
“What makes this year’s events significant is the increase in the industry’s number of companies and products that match an equally expanding market, indicating substantial improvements in the economy despite the global financial crunch,” Babiera said.
Participation in Graphic Expo and PVX has become an economic indicator and a barometer of the financial health of the industry, which comprises a diverse range of enterprises engaged in creative and graphic design, digital photography and video, digital imaging, pre-press, print production, large-format advertising, sign-making, out-of-home Web publishing, multimedia and animation, among others.
These companies are the exhibitors whose latest products and services draw crowds of visitors from among the country’s trade buyers, corporate decision-makers, businessmen, top suppliers and industry professionals, thus making both events an international marketplace for digital technologies and innovations and a venue for upgrading existing tools and networking with experts.
The Graphic Expo also includes a seminar series where creative professionals hone their skills and learn new software applications to enhance their digital workflow processes and operating efficiencies.
“So, beginning this year, Graphic Expo will be staged simultaneously with PVX to make state-of-the-art technologies converge in the world of photography, video and imaging,” Babiera said.
Both events will be staged on June 17-19, thus integrating a vast display of photography and video equipment, supplies and professional services with exciting industry activities, forums and networking among photographers, video-graphers, and clients.
Last year, over 6,000 visitors flocked to the event, most of them advertising and creative professionals, businessmen, entrepreneurs, corporate communicators, photographers, printers, multimedia specialists, Web masters, service providers, and advertising suppliers, among many others.
