Mariwasa builds up operational efficiency with SAP

MANILA, Philippines - Mariwasa is the country’s leading manufacturer of ceramic tiles. Having been operational for more than 40 years, it now employs over 900 employees. It has a turnover of over P2 billion and boasts of the most extensive network in the country.

However, Mariwasa used to maintain two databases — two different versions in two locations. Data encoding was done manually and made the generation of reports very complicated and time-consuming.

Realizing that it needed to gear up for improved business operations in the face of strong competitive business environment, Mariwasa embarked on a restructuring program. It adopted a more efficient system that integrated its key business processes into one that eliminated the need for maintaining several databases.

Mariwasa worked with ABM Computech Enterprises Inc., an SAP channel partner, to implement SAP Business One, a single, integrated business management application for small businesses.

“We embarked on a restructuring program that aimed to make the generation of management reports faster and more efficient,” said Emillie Maramag, vice president for finance of Mariwasa Siam.

“We also used to maintain several databases and this was tedious and complicated. Now, SAP Business One allowed the company to realize its full potential,” she added.

With the integration of SAP Business One, Mariwasa now enjoys faster and more accurate generation of reports because encoding of data is no longer done manually. It also now sees better returns as it maintains just one database.

“We are very excited with this partnership with Mariwasa, a respected market leader, and we look forward to being an integral part of Mariwasa’s growth and future success,” said Jennie Ligones, country manager of SAP Philippines.
