MANILA, Philippines - In a festive and high-fashion party held at the exclusive Embassy Super Club and Café recently, Gateway Computers unveiled its newest line of netbooks, notebooks and desktop PCs to the local market.
Heading the new models are Gateway’s latest netbooks, the LT2000 (LT2002i and LT2003i) and LT3100 (LT3102i and LT3103i) series.
At the center of the LT2000’s compact, stylish chassis is an Intel Atom N280 processor with a Mobile Intel 945GSE Express chipset. Its heavyweight 1GB DDR2 (upgradeable to 2GB) memory and 160GB SATA hard drive belies its lightweight (1.33kg) chassis.
The LT2000 has a 10.1-inch SD high-brightness TFT LCD screen, Bluetooth, webcam, multi-in-one card reader, three USB 2.0 ports, and a multi-gesture touchpad. It comes in cherry red and night-sky black.
The LT3102i and LT3103i, meanwhile, are slightly bigger and have a little more to offer than their LT2000 series siblings. They carry a different processor (AMD Athlon 64 L110), chipset (AMD M690E), and 2GB DDR2 memory.
Graphics display capability is powered by an ATI Radeon X1270 with up to 1024MB of HyperMemory, where 384MB serve as dedicated memory — the only netbook brand with dedicated memory for its graphics — for more vivid images and videos on its 11.6-inch high-definition Gateway Ultrabright TFT LCD screen.
The Wi-Fi-enabled LT3100 series boasts 250GB SATA hard drives.
The LT2000 and LT3100 sport silver trims, engraved logos, rounded edges, textured palm rests, and stylish texture fade-out effects. They even have smart netbook keyboard functionality.
It’s not all aesthetics, however, as it’s powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo SU9400 processor (1.4G, 3M, 800FSB) with a Mobile Intel GS45 Express chipset, 2GB DDR3 memory, 320GB SATA hard drive.
Increased connectivity comes from its Wake-on-LAN ready and dual-band, quad-mode (802.11a/b/g/Draft-N) Wi-Fi network connection. It comes with a 13.3-inch high-definition Ultrabright LED-backlit TFT LCD screen and an optimized second-generation Dolby Sound Room.
As for the ID series models, the midnight blue ID5804i and night-sky black ID5805 boast no less than the design by Pininfarina, the famous Italian design house that gives shape to the sexy Ferraris.
Pininfarina endows the ID series with a tailfin shape design, wide-screen display, chic blue-and-silver and black-and-silver interiors, and chrome-plated Gateway logo.
Included as well are features like the Gateway MyBackup key, PowerSave key, and the touchpad lock for its multi-gesture touchpad.
The ID series runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 processor (2.53G, 3M, 1066FSB) and Mobile Intel PM45 Express chipset, an NVIDIA GeForce G105M system memory (512MB of dedicated DDR2 VRAM, up to 1791MB of shared system memory), and 4GB DDR3 memory.
It has a large 500GB hard drive for mammoth file storage capacity, Gigabit Ethernet, Wake-on-LAN, Intel Wi-Fi link, and dual-band, quad-mode WLAN capabilities.
The ID series sports a generous 15.6-inch HD Gateway Ultrabright TFT LCD display, webcam, second-generation Dolby Sound Room audio enhancement, stereo speakers, and high-definition audio support.
Despite its small form factor, the SX2800 is a powerful performer that allows room for eventual upgrades. It has the utterly sturdy and reliable Intel Pentium dual-core E5200 processor that works with an Intel G43 Express Chipset+ICH10 with Intel Remote Wake technology.
The SX2800 has up to 2GB DDR3 memory to complement its processor and has a massive 320GB SATA hard drive inside its small frame. Viewing files and applications like high-definition movies or games won’t be a problem with its proprietary 20-inch Gateway HX2000 LCD monitor and High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) support.
The Gateway SX2800 promises a completely enthralling audio experience with its embedded HD audio with 7.1 channel surround sound support and optimized third-generation Dolby Home Theater capability for vivid surround sound.
Software support is also solid, thanks to a host of software apps like Gateway Recovery Management, Norton Internet Security, as well as Google Toolbar and Desktop Search.
