Ultra-slim MSI X340 notebook out

MANILA, Philippines - Given the title of “the world’s lightest and slimmest 13-inch notebook” at its debut in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas last January, the ultra-slim MSI X340 ultra-slim notebook measures a svelte 6 mm at its thinnest and 20 mm at its widest. It weighs a mere 1.3 kilograms with battery.

With notebooks fast becoming fashion icons, MSI Notebook makes its fashion statement through the X-Slim series. The sleek design of the X340 actually transforms MSI more into a boutique notebook purveyor than a traditional personal computer manufacturer.

The X-Slim embraces a simple and modern design concept while featuring advanced multimedia and power-saving technologies.

The X340 has a 13” TFT LCD screen instead of the usual 12” or smaller screen sizes. This provides more comfort in reading texts and viewing videos while offering a lighter weight compared to 14” notebook models.

The X340 is also the first 13” notebook equipped with a 16:9 wide screen. The 16:9 aspect ratio provides larger visual area. When watching movies, the black bars on the top and bottom usually found on screens with the 16:10 aspect ratio screen are avoided.

The X340 has a two-speaker audio system, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, and a DVD Super Multi optical disc drive.

The X340 is embedded with the LED power-saving backlight technology, which also provides better color fullness and brightness, elevating the total quality of imagery. Furthermore, the lower power usage gives a longer operating time.

Unlike other ultra-slim notebooks, the X340 includes full I/O ports for full connectivity and ease of use. There are two USB sockets, one HDMI, a MIC-in, Headphone Out, D-Sub (VGA), an RJ-45 LAN port and a card reader.

The MIC-in port supports microphones or headphones by auto-detecting which device is used. The user-friendly design makes exclusive vocal enjoyment sharable. HDMI Digital Terminal Interface offers more than 5GB of transmitting bandwidth and also removes the complications of multiple cables.

The X340 is equipped with MSI’s ECO Engine power management system, which allows users to select from five different modes — office, gaming, movies, presentation, and turbo battery. Through various conditions such as the brightness of the screen and standby timeframe, the power consumption can be much more flexible, allowing longer usage and productivity.

The X340 features the latest Intel Centrino Processor Technology, which uses Intel Core2 Solo ULV processors and the Intel GS45 + ICH9M-SFF chipset to deliver long battery life. It has 2GB of RAM.

The X340 can come with an optional IEEE 802.16e WiMAX wireless module, which elevates the X340’s wireless performance and allows a faster and more mobile online experience.

The X340 also has Bluetooth and 802.11b /g/n Wi-Fi wireless capability, covering all the bases when it comes to wireless connectivity protocols.

The MSI X340 is expected to have a retail price of P49,999 when it hits the stores soon.

MSI Notebook’s list of technological innovations includes its development of Turbo Power, ECO Engine and Cinema Pro technologies. MSI Notebook was also the first laptop manufacturer globally to be awarded True Dolby Home Theater Surround Sound certification.

To date, MSI Notebook has introduced seven series of notebook computers to meet the expectations of every consumer: Gaming Series, Aesthetics Series, Professional Series, Entertainment Series, Ultra Portable Series, X-Slim Series and Value Series.
