It was a red-letter day for audio and video enthusiasts as they trooped to the fourth annual Hi-Fi Show held recently at the posh Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Makati City.
Organized by a passionate group of audiophiles led by businessman Tony de Leon, this year’s Hi-Fi Show attracted big names in the audio-video industry with foreign audio/video representatives from Europe and the United States spread in 37 “demo” rooms occupying two floors of the hotel.
“It’s a venue for music lovers, not just audiophiles. I organized this show out of my passion for audio equipment,” says De Leon, who also runs a construction business when not tinkering with his audio equipment at home.
The event was the venue for the introduction of Bose’s latest SoundDock and Lifestyle systems.
The new SoundDock portable digital music system improves on the previous model in terms of size, portability and sound quality.
The most notable improvement of the new SoundDock is the docking cradle, which slides in and out at a touch of a finger.
“Like the previous model, it also charges your iPod and can accommodate all iPod variants. It has a rechargeable battery and a handle at the rear for carry ease. It also comes equipped with a remote control,” explains Wilson So, president of Eleksis, exclusive Philippine distributor of Bose products.
“My initial order of the new SoundDock has already been sold out,” adds So.
The new SoundDock is scheduled to be formally launched in the Philippines early next year.
In another room adjacent to the Bose product display center was a mini-theater showcasing the new Lifestyle V30 home multimedia system.
“The new Lifestyle V30 combines award-winning sound with advanced technologies for your own audio and video sources,” says So.
The V30 is a High-Definition (HD) and Blue Ray-compatible product that can be connected to any audio-video player. The main feature of the V30 is the five-piece Jewel Cube speakers which produce extraordinary surround sound despite their diminutive size. The demonstration video for the P159,000 system was a sensory delight.
“The Lifestyle system is the flagship product of the Bose family,” says So.
