MANILA, Philippines - The International College of Dentists (ICD) Philippines Section Inc., the pre-eminent international honorary organization of dentists who have made a mark in the world with their contributions to dentistry and to the improvement of oral health, will celebrate its 46th anniversary through an annual convocation and banquet on Jan. 27 at the New World Hotel in Makati City.
With the theme “Professionalism and Service for a Better ICD,†the annual convocation will be graced by Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno as keynote speaker and inducting officer.
The event will be highlighted by the induction of new officers: Drs. Norma Tiu, president; Joseph Macasiray, president-elect; Elaine del Rosario, vice president; Vivian Gabaldon, secretary; Rosemary Young Chan, treasurer; Marie Antoniette Veluz, auditor; Margaret Tiu, PRO; Ma. Liza Centeno and Iluminada Viloria, directors; Marilyn Leung, immediate past president; Elizabeth Carrasco, editor; and Primo Gonzales, councilman.
Seven new fellows will also be inducted: Drs. Gary Brillo, Olegario Clemente Jr., Nancy Godoy, Cristina Laureta, Darwin Diampo Lim, Rhodora Luciano, and Vicente Medina.
Dr. Ermelinda Galang will be conferred the title of “Life Fellow†and Dr. Hermogenes Villareal, “Master Fellow.â€
Dr. Norma Tiu, who takes over from Dr. Marilyn Leung, is also an MBA graduate of the University of the East, faculty member and clinical chairperson of the UE College of Dentistry.
She is the past president of the Filipino-Chinese Dental Foundation, Inc. (1988-1989; 2005-2006), fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International and Pierre Fauchard Academy, and member of the Philippine Dental Association and Manila Dental Chapter.
