MANILA, Philippines – Unlike most people, athletes are considered “old” much earlier in their lives. A businessman or a politician in his early 30s, for example, would be recognized as young and still full of potential. However, a swimmer or a runner of the same age would most likely be thought of as past their physical prime.
But at the age of 31, running enthusiast and Takbo.ph head Jinoe Gavan feels he can still continue to set personal records for time and distance.
“I’m actually aiming for faster 10k and 21k times. And I’m planning to run a race beyond the full (42k) marathon by next year, if my wife Que allows me to,” he shares with a laugh.
“Taking Immuvit has really helped me maintain my energy during training and in my races,” he adds.
For athletes like Jinoe who are entering into their somatopause phase, it is not uncommon to feel one’s energy and strength diminish.
Somatopause is the medical term for the metabolism slowdown that begins during the late 20s and up.
Those facing somatopause have less to worry about, however, thanks to Immuvit, a multivitamin supplement from Pascual Laboratories that helps delay the signs of aging while amply providing the strength and energy one needs daily.
Immuvit accomplishes this through the unique combination of two powerful ginsengs — Korean RPC ginseng and Siberian ginseng — and the antioxidant properties of CoQ10.
“In a way, it’s surprising how I’ve been able to keep up my performance, considering my age. Immuvit makes me feel like I’m just peaking,” Jinoe says.
In 2006, at the age of 27, Jinoe ran his first race, a 10k run at the Philippine International Marathon-A Run for the Pasig River. From there, he continued to join races left and right. To date he has run a multitude of 10k and 21k races, as well as a couple of full marathons.
As head of Takbo.ph, he also runs one of the most popular and foremost websites dedicated to local running. Thanks largely to the current boom in running, Takbo.ph now boasts over 9,000 registered members — and it shows no signs of slowing down.
