Representatives of various health sectors will converge at the La Maja Rica Hotel Tarlac on March 27, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., as the Makati Medical Center holds its post-graduate course on “Current Trends in Cancer Medicine.”
Spearheading the course are Dr. Adoracion Nambayan-Abad, chairman of Makati Med’s Department of Medicine; Dr. Jose Paolo Lorenzo, chairman of scientific activities; and Dr. Christine Pascual, president of the Philippine College of Physicians’ Central Luzon chapter.
The post-graduate course was made possible by the Makati Med’s Department of Internal Medicine, Section of Hematology-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant, in collaboration with the Philippine College of Physicians’ Central Luzon chapter, Tarlac Medical Society, and Philippine Association of Family Physicians’ Tarlac chapter.
With cancer as the third-leading cause of death in the country (most commonly occurring in the lung, breast, cervix, liver, colon and rectum, prostate, stomach, oral cavity, ovaries and blood), the course aims to provide the participants with a wider and more in-depth understanding of specific cancer issues such as cancer screening, cervical cancer prevention, tumor markers, diagnostics and interventional radiology, bone marrow transplantation, and the latest developments in cancer treatment.
