With the theme "Multi-disciplinary Approach to Brain and Spinal Cord Tumors," the conference aims to highlight the current standards of care in the management of brain tumors as well as update participants on exciting advances in the highly specialized field of neuro-oncology.
The first two days of the symposium will consist of lectures from international specialists who will speak on topics such as "Advances in Molecular Diagnosis, Tumor Markers and Biology of Gliomas," "Advances in the Treatment of Gliomas," "Critical Care in Neuro-oncology," "Pediatric Brain Tumor," and "Surgical Management of Metastatic Spinal Tumors" among others.
The third day features actual case presentations and discussions on neuroradiology, neuropathology and management of actual cases.
Neuro-oncology is a medical specialty which deals with patients suffering from a brain tumor which may either be primary (originating from the brain itself) or secondary/ metastastic (originating from a cancer outside the brain).
The international specialists scheduled to speak during the conference are Dr. Stuart Grossman, Dr. Caterina Giannini, Dr. Peter Burger, Dr. Lawrence Kleinberg, Dr. Lori Shutter, and Dr. Charles Teo.
