The Oriental Place at 2011 MADE

MANILA, Philippines –  For six years now, the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) Interior Design Competition has been igniting creativity among young interior designers, inspiring them in changing interior living spaces.

This year, in partnership with Metrobank Foundation, Federal Land takes great pride in allowing one of its top residential projects -- The Oriental Place -- to be given a fresh makeover by some of the country’s talented Filipino interior designers.

The competition, open to all PRC registered interior designers 25-45 years old (25 years as of May 25, 2011 and 45 years as of Sept. 15, 2011 with updated PRC license) will work on the theme “Eco and Elegant Interior Design towards a Sustainable Future.”

Participants will provide a conceptual plan on the following design problem: a young couple yearning to give their urban home a spruce up, emphasizing the Asian atmosphere of the building with the perfect pairing of colors and furniture while opening a space for relaxation and chilling out. To further enhance great ideas, entries should adhere to the 5Rs of design: Restore, Respect, Reduce, Reuse and Recover.

The top two finalists will be given the chance to execute their designs on a 52 sqm two-bedrom unit of The Oriental Place. In addition, all designs must comply with regulations of the building code and budget restrictions. The use of Filipino indigenous materials is likewise encouraged. Attention to unit flexibility, mobility, space circulation, theme and design consistency, practicality, functionality and durability will also be considered.

The Oriental Place, situated along Don Chino Roces Avenue in Makati, offers comfort, accessibility and convenience. Imbued with an Asian charm, the 35-storey development benefits from its vibrant location, living in harmony with some of the most reputable schools, hospitals, churches, banks, malls, and parks the city has to offer, not counting its accessibility to the Makati Commercial Business District.

The Grand Winner will receive a cash prize of P200, 000 while a special prize of P150,000 will be given.

Entries must be submitted not later than May 24, 2011.
