MANILA, Philippines - The Architects’ Golf Club recently held their monthly tournament in Lipa, Batangas, where members competitively played with their colleagues and sponsors. This gathering is a special opportunity to bond with peers and to learn about new products related to their field, according to current adviser and incoming AGC president Ramon Mendoza.
“This is a club for practicing architects from practically all over Metro Manila,” Mendoza said. “We have about 130 registered architects.The sponsors also play with us, so it’s even more enjoyable. We normally play at different venues.”
After playing for several hours, the AGC members transferred to Carousel Grill located at the Fiesta Mall, where they had their late lunch. The participating sponsors, Julant and BASF Philippines Inc., had a short presentation on the new termite powder, Ceptiva. Julant president Tony Sarmiento and representatives of Upgreen Corporation, local distributor of BASF’s Pest Control Solution products, discussed the merits of the renowned Ceptiva with the members.

After the short discussion about pest control and the efficacy of the aforementioned BASF products, prizes were raffled off to the members. Mendoza, after the gathering, reiterated the importance of the day-long activity, and the architects’ organization.
“Next month, we’ll be in Baguio to celebrate our 25th anniversary,” he said. “This group was founded in 1985. Playing together is a great experience, especially today, since the weather is good. My colleagues and I have become close. It’s like a fraternity. There is fellowship; there are networking opportunities. We help each other, and this is a very good group. AGC is being supported by numerous sponsors so we normally play at top golf courses. We play on a Monday or a Thursday, depending on the availability of the course. We meet new friends, and also new sponsors, giving us a chance to get updated on new products in our field.”
