MANILA, Philippines -The CREBA Research Institute (CRI) will hold briefing on “Perspective of the Philippine Real Estate Industry beyond Global Meltdown: Challenges and Opportunities” on Feb. 26 at 1:30 to 5 p.m. at the Intercontinental Hotel in Makati City.
This was announced by Florentino S. Dulalia Jr., CRI president, and Dr. Eduardo G. Ong, director-general. CRI is an affiliate of the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Associations (CREBA), Inc. headed by Dr. Jaime A. Cura, president, and Atty. Manuel M. Serrano, board chairman.
Invited to the briefing to share their views and analyses are Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Gov. Amando M. Tetangco Jr.; Dr. Benjamin E. Diokno, University of the Philippines professor of economics; Joey S. Salceda, Albay governor and economic manager; and Rex c. Drilon II, chief operating officer, Ortigas and Company.
The briefing is aimed at equipping industry players and stakeholders with strong perspectives to overcome the challenges posed by 2009, according to CRI. Dulalia and Ong said: “The Philippines is still in a strong position to weather the effects of the current global crisis, but definitely there will be a lot of challenges to overcome this year. Bleak economic prospects must be countered by positive efforts from both government and private sectors.
“For the real estate industry, this is a challenge to turn the current economic barriers into opportunities of growth and success. The key to survive in the industry is in the ability of the real estate players to conceptualize new and attractive projects to specific target markets. This includes identifying the obstacles and weaknesses of the market and assessing the areas where there are opportunities for new development.”
