MANILA, Philippines – Don’t let that Toyota 86-inspired glaring headlamps and gaping air intake fool you. The 2015 Toyota Prius C looks mean and menacing, but its heart is in the right place—it’s as earth-friendly and economical as ever.
The Prius is the undisputed pioneer and leading proponent in hybrid vehicle technology. Its Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) has changed the course of vehicle innovation around the world. Last week Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) unveiled a fresher and younger look for its subcompact and least expensive hybrid vehicle, the Prius C.
Sporting a completely revised front end with a new front bumper (that integrates the aforementioned grille opening), new headlamps and foglamps, and a new engine hood, the new Prius C looks more distinctive and compelling and sports a more assertive attitude.
Inside, new interior color trim projects a more youthful look. A new navigation feature is also offered in its in-car entertainment system, promising comfort and convenience for long or short drives. Moreover, the new Prius C will now have both Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC) features with cut-off switches. These features prevent the car’s wheels from slipping sideways when cornering and hinder wheel slip when accelerating on slippery surfaces. Aside from these new safety add-ons, the new Prius C also now sports an Emergency Brake Signal that will trigger the LED rear brake lamps to rapidly flash if the brakes are suddenly applied at high speeds.
As every Prius is known for, the new Prius C is equipped with the same Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) technology that produces excellent drivability and unparalleled fuel economy. It comes in the same reliable 1.5-liter 4-cylinder 1NZ-FXE VVT-i Atkinson-cycle engine that complies with standard regulations of EURO V emissions. The characteristics of the hybrid system include the ability to accurately use the gasoline engine and electric motor based on the current driving conditions which offers smooth and reactive driving while significantly minimizing fuel consumption and gas emissions. Overall, the new Prius C is an art form of engineering matched with an iconic and energetic design.
This fun-filled hybrid subcompact car comes in four lively colors: Silver Metallic, Yellow Mica Metallic (new), Cool Soda Metallic (new) and Orange Pearl (new.) The Prius C is available in four options: Prius C Full Option (White Pearl) priced at P1,602,000, Prius C Full Option at P1,587,000, Prius C Standard (White Pearl) at P1,552,000 and Prius C Standard at P1,537,000.
