Michelin takes Fill Up with Air Safety campaign to PH

Technical Communication Director of Michelin France Dominique Aimon stresses the importance of correct tire air pressure in road safety to motoring media  during Michelin’s  Fill Up with Air Safety Campaign at S&R Alabang Open Parking Lot.

MANILA, Philippines – Michelin underscored its Road Safety advocacy with the launch of its Fill Up with Air (FUWA) Safety Campaign last week at the S&R Alabang open parking lot along Alabang-Zapote Road in Muntinlupa. An inspection tent setup onsite invited all S&R members to have their vehicles’ tire pressure checked and adjusted for free. The Michelin tire experts also provided more tire safety advices to the participants and an assessment of the tires’ condition.

In as quick as eight minutes, the participating motorists got an intensive checkup of their tires and gained more knowledge about road safety.

The FUWA Safety Campaign aims to raise awareness among Filipino motorists on the importance of following the recommended tire pressure on vehicular safety. It educates motorists that practicing the maintenance of correct tire pressure has a direct impact on the performance of the vehicle. Inflating the correct tire pressure prevents vehicular accidents and even decreases gasoline consumption.

The Fill Up with Air activity at S&R Alabang is open to both Michelin and non-Michelin users.

“It is the aim of Michelin to foster better and safer mobility. Through safety campaigns and educational activities such as Fill Up With Air, Michelin hopes people will increasingly pay attention on how important the care and selection of tires is to ensure the safety of themselves and families on the road,”  explains Michael Nunag, Country Director, Michelin Philippines.

The FUWA Road Safety Campaign has been conducted by Michelin throughout the world in over 16 European countries with more than 100,000 vehicles inspected from 2002 to 2012.
