The sports car among compact SUVs: Porsche unleashes new Macan

German Ambassador to the Philippines Thomas Ossowski, Porsche Philippines Managing Director Roberto Coyiuto III and event host Sarah Meier.

MANILA, Philippines - PGA Cars Inc., the authorized Porsche importer in the Philippines, launched recently the new Macan at the PGA Cars showroom in Greenhills. Derived from the Indonesian word for tiger, the new Macan was unleashed with a big roar in a modern intensified presentation specially arranged for exclusive clients, guests and the media.

“The Macan is the super sports car in its segment. It combines the driving qualities of a Porsche sports car with all the advantages of a compact SUV’s daily usability. This unique combination opens a new opportunity to new group of customers to enter the exclusive world of Porsche,” said Roberto Coyiuto III, Managing Director of PGA Cars Inc.

The Macan is the first Porsche model to break into the compact SUV segment and is poised to set new standards in the field of driving dynamics and enjoyment—on or off the road. The Macan combines the typical handling characteristics that Porsche has represented right from the outset: maximum acceleration and braking values, vast engine power, extreme agility and optimum steering precision. Furthermore, all of these features are teamed with a high level of comfort and everyday usability.

The Macan S is equipped with a 340-hp 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 and features an active all-wheel drive with an electronically controlled, map-controlled multi-plate clutch and 7-speed double-clutch transmission. This drivetrain enables the Macan to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 254 km/h.

As the top model in the Macan model line, the Macan Turbo is set to be the most powerful vehicle  in the compact SUV segment. The 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 achieves an unrivalled 400 hp and catapults the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and on to top speed of 266 km/h.
