MANILA, Philippines - Audi has again triumphed as the most successful brand in the “Best Cars 2014†poll conducted in China—as decided by readers of the Chinese edition of auto, motor und sport. Garnering a total of eight awards, the company once again won more accolades than any other manufacturer. The Audi A6 L took first place in the “upper midsize class†and “domestically produced upper midsize class†categories.
The Audi Q5 won voters over as the best “domestically produced SUV & off-road vehicle.†Audi was also at the top of the brand rankings and took first place in the “reliable cars,†“environmentally friendly cars,†“good customer service,†“good value for money†and “high resale value†categories. China is the largest single market for Audi. The company was again the strongest-selling brand in the Chinese premium segment during 2013.
Meanwhile, the American crash test program US NCAP has awarded the Audi A6 the maximum rating of five stars for crash safety. The results for adult protection in frontal and side impact collisions, as well as in a rollover situation, put the current Audi A6 among the safest cars in its class.
And for the tenth time in succession, Audi took first place in the Auto Zeitung “Image Report.†More than 20,000 readers participated in the survey, giving their verdict on a total of 45 different car brands. Audi performed superbly in categories including “Cars are well built,†“Builds progressive carsâ€, “Is successful in motorsport,†“The brand is likable,†and “The quality of the cars has risen.â€
Audi also triumphed in ten categories in the Auto Bild poll to identify “The best brands in all classes.†In the “Quality†category, Audi ranked top in the following segments: small car, compact car, midsize class, full-size class, luxury class, cabriolets up to 50,000 euros, compact SUV, and large SUV. The brand with the four rings won two further awards for the high resale value of its cars and its success in motorsport. German publication Auto Bild asked its readers to select their favorite brands in a total of 13 classes and 25 additional categories.
Victory for Audi also came in the DEKRA Used-Car Report: The Audi A1 has come on top in the “Mini/small car†category. Vehicle inspection company DEKRA assessed a total of 15 million cars in eight classes with regard to their quality and safety. Using the findings, DEKRA then drew up a list of deficiencies specific to each type of car in three mileage ranges.
Still on an award-winning roll, the Audi A7 3.0 TDI multitronic received the title of “Wertmeister 2014,†making it the car with the most stable value in its class. The “Wertmeister†accolade is bestowed by Auto Bild and EurotaxSchwacke on those cars in each class that are expected to depreciate the least during the next four years. The Audi A7 triumphed in the “Luxury class†category as having the lowest depreciation value in euros. Awards were given in a total of 11 segments.
Audi also received two accolades in the annual ranking published by US magazine Consumer Reports: The AudiA6 came on top in the “Luxury car†category. The company took third place in the brand ranking. Audi also won a gold “Connected World Award†presented by the American magazine Connected World.
Finally, the association of Korean motoring journalists has selected the Audi A3 Sedan as “Car of January.†The journalists were particularly impressed by the model’s low fuel consumption and good price/performance ratio.
