I got caught by one of those deputized guards in the Rockwell area last week. My offense? Making a U-turn in a no U turn area.
I admitted to the rather rude guard that I did not see the sign and apologized. He was cross. Comes with the authority I guess.
I post with this article three U-turn signs on that short stretch in front of Rockwell area. Two of the signs are located at the intersection where the stoplights are. The other U-turn sign is a bit off from the no U-turn area and is covered with plants — so one could miss it. Just like I did.
I have often wondered about street signs and where the legally right place to put them should be.
For a driver like me I would prefer that these signs are located right where the turns are made so that we are properly guided. After all, I think that these signs are up for a reason and not just to catch people who don’t see them. Or are the signs there to fool us?

Pet peeve: Riding solo, in tandem or even three or four. I really wonder how motorcycle drivers get their licenses. Ok, fine, I also wonder how many other drivers get their licenses. But, with the increasing number of motorcycles on the streets and the very careless ways some of these drive their bikes it is not a surprise to me that these are so many accidents involving motorcycles.
They overtake without looking, switch lanes in the middle of EDSA without checking if there is a car coming from behind them and they load their bikes with their whole family, including their pet dog.
They don’t know how many lives they put in danger because of their frenetic driving ways.
I just wish they would be more careful -- if not for themselves then perhaps for the people riding with them and the other card drivers that don’t want to bump them.
