Peugeot features top-of-the-line diesel technology

MANILA, Philippines - True to its commitment to bring in vehicles with top-of-the-line technology, Eurobrands Distributor Inc, official distributor of Peugeot vehicles, has brought in several vehicle variants featuring the French automotive company’s e-HDi technology.

e-HDi, which is an acronym for Electronic High Pressure, Direct Injection, is a feature in some Peugeot diesel engines that reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by up to 20 percent compared to traditional, indirect injection engines. Thanks to e-HDi, there is also a 40-percent reduction in carbon monoxide, 50-percent reduction in hydrocarbons and 60-percent reduction in particles emissions.

As e-HDi engines provide over 20 percent savings in consumption as compared with previous-generation diesel engines, Peugeot cars contribute in reducing the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is a natural phenomenon that adversely affects life on earth. The greenhouse effect can change if the atmosphere contains too large an amount of CO2 that cannot be absorbed by photosynthesis, thus contributing to global warming.

Peugeot sees environmental responsibility as one of mankind’s greatest challenges, and has thus prioritized creating innovative technology to cut emissions and fuel consumption numbers of their vehicles. The result of this effort is evident in specific technologies seen in Peugeot cars. Perhaps one of the most unique and immediately distinctive features of e-HDi technology, for example, is Peugeot’s new-generation Stop & Start system.

This feature automatically switches off the engine whenever the vehicle becomes stationary. With improved technology, restarting is particularly smooth when the driver wishes to continue his or her journey. This technology is then combined with a 6-speed, electronically controlled, manual gearbox that is available in the Peugeot vehicles in the Philippines, specifically the 3008 Crossover, the 5008 Compact MPV and the 508 Executive Sedan.
