MANILA, Philippines - Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has gone through various marketing campaigns in the past, each of which promoted key characteristics of its products such as fuel-efficiency, durability, reliability and so forth. This year, IPC ups the ante by combining all of their key product traits in a four-fold marketing campaign that will span the entire calendar year. Entitled “Isuzu Diesel Mission”, it was outlined to fleet customers, dealer principals, government officials and members of the media last March 4 at One Esplanade in Pasay City.
The Mission for 2010
The Isuzu Diesel Mission is a four-fold marketing campaign consisting of: Dura Mission, Farthest Mission, Eco Mission and Dyna Mission. Each of these components highlights Isuzu’s widely accepted leadership in diesel technology both in the Philippines and around the world. The first component, Dura Mission, reminds the public of Isuzu vehicles’ durability, toughness and power. IPC intends to do this via customer testimonials, media reviews, sponsored events and the publication of Isuzu’s sales history both here and abroad.
The second component, Farthest Mission, sees Isuzu’s various diesel vehicles undergoing actual demonstrations of toughness and practicality. This includes 4x4 driving clinics, mall tours and sales/service caravans. But the biggest highlight is the return of the Isuzu Challenge, which will have various Isuzu vehicles running on a single tank of fuel through major cities in Luzon. There will be three Isuzu Challenge legs this year. The first will feature the NHR truck in May, then the Crosswind in July and lastly, the D-MAX in October.
In addition, the Isuzu Challenge will include a mileage-guessing contest, which is open to the public. Isuzu will be giving away a brand-new NHR, Crosswind and D-MAX to those who will guess the actual distance that the three vehicles will travel on just one full tank of fuel.
The third component of the Isuzu Diesel Mission is Eco Mission, which drums up awareness on Isuzu’s safety, economy and environmental-friendliness. IPC is set to continue its corporate social responsibility activities throughout the year in an effort to give back to the community.
Dyna Mission, the last component of the Isuzu Diesel Mission is a diesel-engine awareness campaign designed to showcase the advantages of diesel engines over gasoline; Isuzu’s diesel technology and vehicle design; the superiority of Isuzu’s engine over other diesels; and Isuzu’s product innovation and development. This will be done through the participation in motor shows, advertorials, pamphlets, posters, workshops, seminars and the Isuzu Truck Attack event.
“We are very excited with the Isuzu Diesel Mission campaign,” said IPC president Keiji Takeda. “We have no doubt that with this campaign; the public will be 100 percent convinced that Isuzu vehicles and diesel engines are simply the best in the industry.”
2010 Isuzu N-Series: Cleaner Than Ever
IPC fired the first salvo in its Isuzu Diesel Mission marketing campaign by launching the 2010 N-Series light duty truck during the same event. The biggest change is at the heart of the N-Series which is now a Euro 2 compliant engine. The 2010 NHR is powered by a 2.8-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with 91 ps enabling it to carry a payload of 2,325 kilograms while the rest of the N-Series trucks use a 4.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with 121 ps. Their payload capacity ranges from 2,810 kilograms to 6,030 kilograms.
Guests were also treated to a sneak preview of Isuzu’s foray into the microbus segment with the aptly named Isuzu Microbus. Assembled by ISO-certified coachbuilder Centro Manufacturing Corporation, the Isuzu Microbus will seat 16 passengers and will feature amenities such as dual air conditioning. With an overall length of just 5,025 mm and an overall width of 1,700 mm, the Isuzu Microbus is compact enough to fit through the majority of Metro Manila’s congested roads while its 2.8-liter 4JB1-TC engine gives ample acceleration and outstanding fuel economy. IPC sees the Microbus as the perfect value-for-money solution for the transportation needs of various business sectors. The Isuzu Microbus will be available by the second half of this year.

Also present during the event was Isuzu Motors Limited’s Masahisa Kitamura, the chief engineer of the Isuzu N-Series truck.
