MANILA, Philippines - Auto Review celebrates its 15th anniversary on Philippine television with the staging of the 3rd Auto Review Run for Road Safety & Courtesy on May 24 (Sunday) with start and finish venue at McKinley Hill at Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, Metro Manila.
The event which features competitive 10-km and 5-km distances and 2-km fun walk, aims to promote road safety awareness and a culture of safety, discipline and courtesy on the road among motorists, pedestrians, traffic enforcers and all road users.
The whole day event will also be a road safety festival of sorts as automotive and other sponsors will share their own road safety and environment advocacies , highlight the safety features of their vehicles and conduct test drives of the latest car models. Talks and quizzes on road safety and a basic motorcycle riding clinic will also be part of the Road Safety Exhibit.
The organizers are also encouraging the runners to wear clothes that further enhance their visibility on the road and vie for the Best in Road Safety Outfit awards. A unique part of the run is the Road Safety Slogan Writing in which participants will write their own statement about road safety on a blank race bib which they will wear at the back of their shirts during the race. Special prizes will be given to the contributors of the ten best slogans.
“Theme of this year’s run is ‘I go the distance for road safety’ as a means to encourage road users to go out of their way to contribute to creating a culture of safety and courtesy in the country,” says Ron de los Reyes, producer and host of the long running show Auto Review which is aired Saturdays, 1:30- 2 pm on NBN4.
