Motor Image, the sole distributor of Subaru cars in Singapore and the region, stole the show at the recently concluded Singapore Motorshow, which was held at Suntec Singapore. The Subaru booth covered over 1,500 square meters of space and was the largest booth display at this year’s Singapore Motorshow.
A total of 25 cars were on display at the Subaru booth, including the much-anticipated 2009 Subaru Impreza 4-door Sedan range and the new Subaru EXIGA, a seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). Other Subaru cars that were presented were the Forester 2.0X and 2.5XT Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), the Impreza 5-door Hatchback range, the Legacy range, the R1 and R2 mini-car, the Outback 3.0R, and a Singapore-assembled Impreza STI Circuit car.
In addition to the range of cars on display, visitors to the Subaru booth this year also got to see exhilarating stunt performances by world-renowned precision stunt driver and recent Manila visitor Russell “Russ” Swift. Swift was with his son, Paul and the father-and-son duo electrified the crowds with their repertoire of trademark gravity-defying car stunts, which included Reverse Spinning, Handbrake Parking, Drifting and Donuts. Having performed over 5,000 live displays in 40 different countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Taiwan, and at the Scottish, Ulster, British and New York motorshows, Russell has also appeared in numerous TV commercials. Twenty-nine year old Paul recently won his seventh British Autotest Championship and runs his own precision driving team.
Said Russell, “I am ecstatic to be invited again by the Motor Traders Association and Motor Image Enterprises to be a part of the Singapore Motorshow. The response from the crowd in the past years has been fantastic and it gives me much joy and pride to be back here to perform, especially with my son, Paul.”
Members of the public were also given a chance to get a piece of the action with the Swifts by bidding for exclusive tickets at the Subaru Stunt Show Charity Auction. All proceeds from the Charity Ride Auction went to the Viva Foundation for Children with Cancer, a charitable organisation that aims to improve the survival rate and treatment for cancer in children in both Singapore and the region.
Fans of Asia Pacific Rally Champion, Motor Image Rally Team driver, Cody Crocker, meanwhile, were able to meet their rally hero up-close at autograph sessions at the Subaru booth.
The Singapore Motorshow is the region’s most celebrated and prestigious motoring event. It was held last September 26 to October 5 at the Suntec in Singapore. The event provided a visual feast of world-class cars, exotic automobile designs and exciting new car models.
