Mixed-use Sheraton Resort to rise in Mactan

STARWOOD HOTELS & RESORTS Worldwide Inc. announced the signing of Sheraton Mactan Resort, a new-build property comprised of hotel and branded residences on the exotic coral island of Mactan. Owned by AppleOne Mactan Inc, a subsidiary of AppleOne Properties Inc., the signing leverages the Sheraton first- mover advantage in the region and meets increasing local demand. The new Sheraton Mactan hotel will open in 2019, followed by the opening of the residences in 2020.        “Starwood continues to build on its long-standing owner and developer relationships in the region as we expand our strong and growing footprint,” said Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels and Resorts regional vice president-South East Asia Charlie Dang. AppleOne Mactan Inc. president Ray Go Manigsaca said he is confident that the partnership “will positively uplift the hospitality industry in the region. AppleOne’s distinct image is consistent with the impeccable global reputation of Sheraton and this partnership will also raise the bar of residential development in Cebu and the Philippines.” The beachfront hotel property will offer 250 sophisticated guest rooms, of which 20 are expansive suites, with breathtaking views of Magellan Bay. The Residences at Sheraton Mactan Resort will feature 182 units consisting of one to three partially-furnished bedroom apartments. This is really something to look forward to!

Cultural body bares new officers

The friends for cultural concerns of the Philippines (FCCP), an organization founded in 1979 with an aim to nurture and develop artistically inclined or talented young people, has inducted its new set of officers and members at the Turf Room of the Manila Polo Club. Cultural Center of the Philippines president Dr. Raul Sunico administered the oath of office to FCCP president Nene Pe Lim, vice president Letty Hahn, secretary Lin Liboro, assistant secretary Lili Adina, treasurer Karen Macasaet, assistant treasurer Marge Ortiz-Luis, and directors Rosita Lesaca, Baby Ortiz, Sol Tan Gatue, and Gay Jamias. Five new members were also inducted: Mimille Guzman, Rose Borromeo, Michelle Pe, Noreen Fong, and Diana Franco.   Under the stewardship of the dynamic Nene Pe Lim, the FCCP can look forward to an exciting year of cultural events and outreach programs.
