Whether here or abroad, the service sector is a booming industry. At the moment, there is a huge demand for well-trained front-liners especially in hotels, resorts, spas, and skilled staff in restaurants, coffeeshops, and even cruise liners. No matter how big the need is, these industries require people who are adequately prepared and equipped with the necessary skills.
Gearing up for this challenge is the Center for Hospitality Arts Management Philippines (CHAMP). The center is dedicated to transforming individuals become excellent front-liners that can handle even the most demanding of jobs offered in the food and hospitality industry.
“CHAMP continuously pursues its mission to help students find their way to success. We do this by opening opportunities for them to work here or abroad,” said Ronald Dexter Antiporda, assistant school director.
True enough, CHAMP graduates who work abroad at present are sharing their success stories and how the school has prepared them with the challenges ahead.
Maria Victoria Macaldo, 45, was a housekeeping student of CHAMP enrolled in a three-month course called National Competency. “While I was still studying at CHAMP, the International Hotel Suites Calgary in Alberta, Canada hired me. I signed a 24-month contract with them. I was very delighted since the hotel not only provided my two-way plane ticket but also a health insurance as part of the benefits. This has really helped my family in a lot of ways.”
On the other hand, three other students from CHAMP who also took the National Competency course are now in China. Maximo Beltran, 31, Bar Operations student is now working as a manager for Windjammer Bar in Yalong Bay, China. “Enrolling in CHAMP is one of the best decisions that I made. I learned a lot from my professors especially during the on the job training. It definitely provided the proper training and technical skills I need for a career in hotel and restaurant management,” said Beltran.
CHAMP offers a wide range of courses, including a short three-month course (Certificate of Competency), to one-year (Certificate in Hotel and Restaurant Operations) and two-year courses. The two-year course entitles a graduate to a Diploma in Hospitality Management — an added advantage for those who want to work immediately.
The school is located at 26 Kamias Road, Quezon City. CHAMP recently opened its new branches in San Juan and Antipolo City. For inquiries, call 928-2641/928-1246 or visit Web site at www.schoolchamp.edu.ph.
