"When I placed my order, I was informed that I would be charged with an additional P250 for delivery. I agreed and even gave your representative my Diners Card number for you to charge the total amount. The product was received by my end through courier on Nov. 8, 2002, where I also signed the Diners Card charge slip.
"I am now returning your product because I found it overpriced. I found out on the day the product was delivered to me that your electronic fitness system was sold by an exhibitor at SM City Davao for only P500. The same product was also available at Tobys Sportshouse in SM Davao for only P180.
"Your representative, Trisha Baloloy, has been calling me and is aware of my disappointment over the price difference. She has encouraged me to return your product and has told me that I can replace it with a similarly priced product from your end. The product she offered as replacement was the Turbo Tiger vacuum cleaner. I am, however, declining the offer since the same item can be bought at the SM Appliance Center for about P1,700++.
"In this regard, I am strongly demanding for a reversal of charges in my Diners Card for the amount of P3,995 to cover the cost of your Abtronic Electronic Fitness System. I am willing to shoulder the P250 delivery charge."
A. The Bureau of Trade Regulation and Consumer Protection conducted a telephone facilitation, ensuring that Value Vision acted on Ms. Talattads complaint. On Feb. 12, 2003, we received this feedback from her.
"Let me thank you for efficiently acting on my letter of concern with Positive Response Inc. To date, the amount (P3,995) I requested to be reversed in my Diners account has been implemented.
"Your departments action on my concern is genuinely appreciated. It is good to know that all is not lost in government service and that it can still be counted on. May your office and your staff (Lyra Malbatoan) be emulated by everyone in public service."
