MANILA, Philippines - Pru Life UK, through its charitable arm, the Prudence Foundation, has allocated P7 million in emergency relief funds for identified areas in Metro Manila and the provinces devastated by Typhoon Maring. The amount may be used to help residents in communities that have been and will be affected during the typhoon season this year. The insurer is currently coordinating with Plan International and Save the Children for the provision of hygiene and infant care kits for residents in Bataan and Taguig City. Established in Hong Kong, the Prudence Foundation is the umbrella organization that oversees regional corporate social responsibility initiatives of the Prudential group of companies across Asia, including Pru Life UK in the Philippines. Last April, the Prudence Foundation and Pru Life UK launched a P100-million, three-year program in the Philippines that is expected to directly benefit over 100,000 Filipinos in more than 100 barangays in Metro Manila and in Bulacan, Rizal and south central Mindanao provinces. The funding will cover school-based disaster preparedness and pre-school child care programs across the country.
