SRA's Martin to chair 21st ISO Conference in London

MANILA, Philippines - Administrator Regina Bautista-Martin of the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) has been invited to be the chairperson for the 21st International Sugar Organization (ISO) Conference in East Wintergarden, London.

The ISO is an intergovernmental body devoted to improving conditions on the world’s sugar market through debate, analysis, special studies, transparent statistics, seminars, conferences and workshops.

As of 2009, ISO has a membership of 86 states which collectively account for 85 percent of the world’s sugar production and 95 percent of the world’s sugar exports.

In his invitation to SRA administrator Martin, ISO executive director Dr. Peter Baron stated it would be an honor for the ISO to have the SRA administrator as chairperson for the 21st Seminar slated on Nov. 27 and 28, 2012.

Dr. Baron noted that Martin has an excellent standing and is well known in the ISO, and represents one of the most loyal member countries of the organization.

The Philippines joined the ISO in 1996 and has been one of its more active members.

SRA administrator Martin accepted the invitation, making her the first female chairperson and presiding officer of the ISO.

According to Martin, “it is an honor for the country to be recognized in the international market.”
