MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization (Philfoodex) Inc. will hold the 10th Philippine Food Expo on Feb. 24-27 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
With the theme “Food Safety Management Standards in the Global Market”, the expo is the country’s only all-Filipino consumer event and is supported by the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Philippine Exporters Confederation.
Through the Fiesta Philippines International and Exporters Zone, the exhibit will be a one-stop shop for buyers and sellers of the best Pinoy products.
Philfoodex president Roberto Amores said the event will be a most ideal sourcing venue for foreign food industry players since the country has many good food products still unknown to the world market. The four-day event will also feature retail and exporters’ zones to help buyers identify the sectors they want to cover. Adding color to the event is the participation of the local governments of Puerto Princesa, Davao del Norte and Ilocos Norte which will showcase their native food products.
Special events on Feb. 24 include a culinary showdown hosted by the Philip-pine Women’s University Department of Hospitality & Management featuring locally-produced products, and the 1st Food Styling & Photography contest which is open to culinary students and aspiring chefs.
The 1st Philippine International Cacao Conference and Exhibit will also be held simultaneously on Feb. 24-25, where cocoa farmers and buyers will convene to discuss the industry trends.
There will also be seminars on organic farming, kosher certification, food processing and its effect on climate change, and food safety, among others.
