All systems go for 20th HogCon

MANILA, Philippines - The Pork Producers Federation of the Philippines, Inc. (ProPork) is adopting a fiesta style for the 20thHog Convention and Trade Exhibits which is slated March 17-19 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Forum in Pasay City.

Edwin Chen, convention chairman and ProPork president, said the convention will have for its theme: “Strengthening the Hog Industry in the Face of Global Challenges.”

The venue will be decorated in Filipino fiesta tradition – with banderitas hanging everywhere. During the opening ceremony, ProPork officers will lead a lechon chop, followed by the blessing of the trade exhibits.

As in previous years, ProPork expects thousands of participants to join the event. ProPork members from all over the country have made it a tradition to attend the annual event to learn new things and exchange ideas with their fellow hog farmers and stakeholders in allied industries.

Admission is free.

Sharon Tan, HogCon co-chairman and ProPork corporate secretary, said the federation and its sponsors have been working hand in hand to ensure the success of the event.

Trade exhibitors will showcase their latest products and services to thousands of individuals, groups and companies involved in the hog industry and its allied sectors.

Another highlight of the gathering is the 4th Backyard Hog Congress, which will focus on the needs of the backyard hog farmers who comprise 70 percent of the local industry.

“Our annual event has achieved tremendous success in bringing together people and companies from all over the country involved in the swine industry to increase their productivity and maximize profits,” said Chen. “We will continue to do this to assist our members.”

The three-day gathering is part of ProPork’s mission to promote the interest of the hog raisers and enhance the P200-billion hog industry’s opportunities for growth, efficiency, equity and sustainability.

ProPork is the largest pork producers group in the Philippines today, with a total affiliation of 50 associations all over the country.
