At the recent launch of Soltazza Mini Barista espresso machines, Phil Coffee Board co-chairperson Pacita Juan was ecstatic over the introduction of Philippine coffee in a new format—the Coffee Pod. Pods have been available in the market for a few years now, but choices were limited to imported brands.
OWG Coffee, distributors of the Soltazza Mini Barista, did one better by podding our coffee from the Cordilleras. Called Philippine Select, this espresso blend allows coffee aficionados the choice of drinking a home-grown brand in a state-of-the-art format.
“This is a first,” said Juan as she endorsed the product. OWG also plans to distribute Philippine coffee pods to Filipino-American households in the USA, assuring coffee lovers of freshly-roasted coffee in the convenient pod format.
The 45mm coffee pods are encased in biodegradable coffee filters, nitrogen-flushed and individually-packed for freshness. They are perfectly prepared using the Soltazza Mini barista espresso machines, which are easy to operate. “A 12-year old can make espresso,” said OWG president Evelyn Lim-Forbes.
Juan and Forbes spoke about Philippine coffee in the new format over a year ago, and now it has become a reality.
OWG Philippine coffees are available in the OWG Showroom in Salcedo Village or at Kape Isla at Serendra. Log on to www.soltazza.com.ph for more information.
