Officials of the Philippine Seed Industry Association (PSIA), led by its president Willy U. Co, recently paid a courtesy call to Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap to discuss the preparations being undertaken for this year’s Asian Seed Congress which will be held Nov. 6-10 at the Edsa Shangri-la Hotel.
The theme of the congress is “Cultivating Ties for Quality Seeds and Bountiful Harvests”.
The Asian Seed Congress is an annual event that brings together business executives, academicians, scientists and researchers, government officials and others involved in the local and global seed industry.
Co is a past president of the Asia Pacific Seed Association (APSA) and the PSIA. He now sits as chairman of the national organizing committee (NOC) of the congress. The APSA and the PSIA co-organize this year’s congress in Manila which expects to draw more than 800 local and international delegates.
Co, who is president and general manager of Allied Botanical Corp., said that the NOC is looking to tap the support of other government agencies like the Department of Tourism to hype the historic event.
