Hog raisers slate annual confab

The National Federation of Hog Farmers Inc. will hold its 13th Annual Convention and Trade Exhibits on April 2-4 at the SM Mega Trade Hall, Mandaluyong City.

Nemesio G. Co, national chairman, said this year’s event will be hosted by the Alliance Swine Producers Association headed by their president, Edwin G. Chen. The event hopes to bring together various stakeholders in the hog raising industry that will discuss the current state and issues faced by the sector. It also aims to promote awareness on the benefits of pork consumption as a source of protein.

The trade exhibit will showcase the latest technology, trends and equipment to enhance the quality and competitiveness of the hog raising industry. More than 100 exhibitors have signified their intention to join the trade exhibits.

NFHFI president, Albert R.T. Lim Jr. said Agriculture Secretary Luis P. Lorenzo Jr. will be the guest of honor and speaker during the opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. April 2 at the SM Mega Trade Hall, Mandaluyong City. Other speakers are former Undersecretary Ernesto M. Ordoñez and Sen. Robert Jaworski.

The trade exhibits will also feature seminars on topics like "Management and New Technology in Swine Artificial Insemination" by Dr. Gary Althouse; "Genetic Technology Shaping the Future of Hog Industry Today" by Vincent Raphael Borromeo; "Talakayan onPig Management" by Alfredo Ong; "PRRS Control in the Phils. by Dr. Carlo Maala; "Swine Raising" by Dr. Avelina Malabanan Samiano and "Meat Processing" by Dr. Katrina Mae Fortes.
